License Test Session at Our Club

Our club will be launching a West Valley Amateur Radio Club testing session starting Oct. 2014. The test session will be held on the same evening, the 1st Monday of each month following the monthly meeting from 8:00 pm to 9:15 pm.

St. Clements’ Church Social Hall

15800 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, Az.

We have several VE’S within the club membership who have committed to work as a VE team.

We are looking forward to everyone’s cooperation getting the information about our new program. Many thanks in advance.

Please call Joe Cutitta W0SLL at 623-337- 0040 or 623-215-2226 for more information.

Attention: We are working on a new roster for the club, one that will have a photo of each member and their call sign, to make this work this will take an effort on everyone to take part in this.

The result will be a series of pages of about 24 photos each with call signs, and the pages will be sorted by the call sign, how often have you wondered what face goes with that call, you will be able to just flip to page and see the face that belongs to the call.Let’s get going on this, if you have not had your photo taken by KG7FIL or had sent one in please send an email with your photo that covers you from your waist to your head and I will crop it to fit the format, my email is Bob Paul at

GO KIT

October 4, 2014

In honor of National Fire Prevention Week, Emergency Preparedness West Valley Amateur Radio Club set up our operating go- kits at the three fire stations in Sun City West for public display to show how we communicate with the Del Web hospital, Boswell hospital, and Wickenburg hospital emergency preparedness exercise, the Wickenburg hospital has instructions on how to use the phone patch at the Del Web hospital repeater so as to reach outside communications.

We had a good attendance by the public and explained how our go-kits work and are so portable, and how we setup our intergroup frequency for communications and also relay messages between the fire stations and between the three hospitals.

We were using internal battery power in our kits and external battery’s and solar cell power as a supplemental power source, we averaged about 25-30 minutes setup time, and the event lasted for 3 hours, there was HF 2m and 440 bands used along with cross-banding between the stations. Many thanks to all who participated, helped, and stood by to offer assistance. The

following members are recognized for their help and assistance.
