Wellness Support Fund Application

The SAVMA Wellness Committee is offering funding to veterinary students and veterinary school organizations that wish to promote physical, mental, and emotional health at their college of veterinary medicine.

In light of the growing body of evidence indicating high levels of stress, anxiety, and depression in the veterinary profession, the committee recognizes that there is a considerable need to transform the culture of veterinary schools into one that is safe, promotes self-awareness, and encourages healthy living habits. The SAVMA will awardup to $2,500.00USD each cycle to student applicants demonstratingthe need for assistance with a project, lecture, or event(s) that will foster physical or mental wellness in their respective college, on an as needed basis.

Examples of such events include, but are not limited to:

  • Funding “Wellness Week” events
  • Organizing lectures by a mental health professional
  • Arranging weekly yoga, meditation, craft circles, etc. sessions
  • Initiating a “Pledge to be Well” drive
  • Kick-starting a Health & Wellness club

The committee will accept applications until the cycle deadlines, listed below.Applicants may apply either to be reimbursed for a project that occurred between July 1st – December 31stor for a project planned during January 1st – June 30th. The Wellness Committee will review applications, and all applicants will be notified of results within 1 month of the cycle deadline. Multiple grants will be awarded by the committee based on a number of factors including size of project, financial need, and preparation of the required documents. All grant winners are required to submit a 500 word or less program report, along with all receipts within a month of the event. Failure to complete the requirements will result in the student’s/school’s refund of all awarded funding. Please direct any questions to .
