Minutes of Meeting

Held Tuesday 24 June 2014 at the Victoria Bridge Club at 10am

Present:Dinnie Hall (Chair), Heather Jared (Treasurer), Tony Sutich,

Anna Herries. Observers: Allan Joseph, Vivienne Cannell, Alan Grant.

Minutes:The Minutes of the Committee Meeting held April 22, 2014, were taken as read & confirmed correct. Heather/Anna

Finance:Heather Jared presented the Treasurer’s update on BNZ balances & expenditure:

Cheque A/C 31 March 2014 – 30 May 2014: Opened: $1,125.95 Closed: $4,103.70

Savings A/C (for the same period) Opened: $25.949.94

Closed: $ 26,066.13

Income: April $2,843.44; May $3,910.16

Expenditure: April $822.00; May $3,565.85

Regional

Tournaments:(1)Discussion took place over the role of Match Committees in which it was agreed that it should be comprised of 1 member from each of the following: WRC; Host Club; Director

(2) It was agreed, by the committee, to create a pre-set document for determing number of boards, playing format and movements; based on entry numbers and time factors.

WellingtonRegional Congress:

(1) Dealing of boards. Dave Morel is to be contacted over his time plan to begin dealing

(2) Arrangements for collecting boards for the Congress are underway. These will come from clubs in the metropolitan area.

(3) Prize Money. It was agreed that the same scale as 2013 Congress would be used for Open, Intermediate & Junior events. Novice Pairs (1 session) will receive Pat & Martin Oyston sponsorship money, plus WRC money.

1st place getters: $50 each. 2nd place getters: $25 each.

The Secretary was asked to get a special flyer out, to all clubs and bridge teachers, promoting the Novice 1 session event. It was agreed that the definition of Novice was a player who had played 3 years or less and held no more than 10B points as of January 1, 2014.

Regional Club

Team Reps:Concern was expressed for the lack of substantial funding for the winning club’s team accommodation & travel to Hamilton for the

Club Team Championships. Tony Sutich suggested the sum of $600 from the committee, in addition to what ever sum is awarded to Regions as a travel equaliser from the NZBI entry fee fund.

Interprovincial

Championship:The appointing of a Chef de Mission to travel with the Wellington Regional Team was discussed. It was agreed, unanimously, that this be awarded to Anna Herries, who will confirm her availability at a later date. Heather / Tony.

Regional

Website:Alan Grant suggested it was time to have website training for some members of the committee who will be involved in updating data.
