OCTOBER 2017 NEWSLETTER

Well it is all change at The Elsworth Poacher as another month disappears, New Menu, New Dog, Awards and a few alterations within the business.

There is a lot to go through this month but I will start by briefly looking back at September which was a record breaking month for the pub, a great ‘Quiz Night’, a busy ‘Karaoke’ and another packed ‘Curry Night’ all contributed to a fantastic month’s trade with more and more people finding us to be their favourite place to go. This months ‘Quiz Night’ is on Saturday 7th October and we do have a couple of tables left, this week is also the launch of our ‘Autumn and Winter Menu’, I have designed a hearty, wholesome and home cooked menu for both the lunchtime and the evening which I hope you will all come and try with us within the near future. This is also where the alterations within the business are happening, we are very fortunate to be so busy now at The Elsworth Poacher and so I have decided to move into the kitchen to take full control of the food offer, my home cooked savoury pies and new desserts have become so popular and so it makes sense for me to spend most of my time in the kitchen. I am pleased therefore to announce that my partner Colleen is joining us five days a week to look after the ‘front of house’ at The Elsworth Poacher, most of you already know Colleen and I am certain you are all just as happy as I am to have her join us at the pub. We are looking for some part time kitchen and waiting staff, so if you know anyone who is interested please do not hesitate to contact me, it would involve weekend work.

Other dates for the diary for you this month include ‘Curry Night’ on Thursday 26th and ‘Folk Evening with Elsworth AMC’ on Monday 30th October, please also be aware that we will be closed on Saturday 4th November all day for a wedding!

On to other news, last week we had the fantastic confirmation that The Elsworth Poacher was named ‘Punch Regional Summer Pub of the Year’, I am so proud of this award as it is not only for the look of the pub and garden but for the offer, menu and standards within the business. A big thank you to everyone involved but a special thanks to our gardener Rob Askham who has worked so hard with me over the last 18 months to make the pub absolutely stand out!

Christmas bookings are flying in and we now have confirmation of all our events on our website, New Year’s Eve will be a ‘1970’s Theme’ with a three course menu available for £25 per person or entry for the evening for just £5 (which includes a glass of bubbly at Midnight), we only have twenty seats available for dinner for this evening as we have a disco so please book as soon as possible.

Finally this month’s most exciting news, as some of you already know we have a new addition to the ‘Poacher Family’, Steven the Husky has joined us from Wood Green Animal Shelter, Steven (Original name Demon!!!) is only two years old and has had a pretty dreadful life so far, we are so pleased to give him a new home and a new ‘Big Brother’, with Roscko helping to take care of him Steven has settled in amazingly well and has already become a firm favourite. Affectionately known as ‘Biff & Boff’ Roscko and Steven are inseparable and myself, Colleen and Tom are really enjoying our new addition!

So, there we go, we look forward to seeing you this month and please do not forget to get your Christmas and New Year bookings in as soon as possible and do not forget to try out our new fantastic menus!
