From the Pastor:

Written on Monday, February 15, 2016...

Well, I write about snow, and we get snow. But it sure makes the landscape beautiful.

As I looked out the window this morning, I open my eyes after praying and just looked out while being still. I was listening to the wind; the crackling of the ice; the chirping of the birds; and whatever else made noises.

< < < < < < <

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV)

10Be still, and know that IamGod

< < < < < < <

I stood so still listening for noises. But I wonder, how often do we sit still and know the God is God?

We are instructed in this verse to be quiet, let go and to be still, both physically and mentally. But this is difficult. Life is extremely busy and so are our minds. It’s tough to even make the time to be still.

God is telling us to hit the brakes though. Be still. If we are so busy with our lives, then we will not be able to hear God’s voice. The more we are intentionally still, the more we will hear God’s voice; the better we will recognize God’s activity; the smaller our challenges will be; the bigger God will appear; and the more we will follow God’s agenda instead of our own.

Join me in this difficult task of being still. Let’s release the challenges of our life to God and then relax in the presence of God. Let’s spend a few minutes today to be still.

Love You All in Christ,

Bro. Nick

Let no one despise your youth, but set an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity. 1 Timothy4:12

Our focus and verse for the youth group is the verse that I just quoted for you above. We are going to try as a group to focus on this single verse for a whole year!!! I know you are thinking, "well, they surely must not be learning much if their only focus is one small verse for a whole year". I think if you stop and slow down and look at this verse you will see many, many, more lessons that will be involved. What would it look like if our youth group were to hit every mark in this verse intentionally and accurately? I will be the first to tell you "game changer".

My prayer is that we are living examples of what these life changing words truly mean. Pray with us, and for us, during this year that we can grasp this verse in our soul. We will be traveling to Winter Jam in Lexington this weekend to build on our example as we join 20,000 brothers and sisters during a great night of worship to our King... God Bless...

From the Mailbox:

Dear Christian Friends,

It is with grateful hearts that we acknowledge and thank you for your generous monetary gift to our church. It is deeply appreciated and will be faithfully used to share the love of Jesus with others, especially many children. We pray God will bestow His richest blessings upon each of you as you have blessed us.

To the BYW of Stanford Baptist,

We Senior Adults appreciate so much the delicious Valentine meal. Not only was the food good, but the hospitality, love, and fellowship was enjoyed by all. May we, in turn, show our love, kindness, and thanksgiving as Hebrews 10:24 tells us, "And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works".

With Grateful Hearts,

SBC Senior Adults

Dear Church Family,

I want to thank everyone for their cards and prayers during the passing of my brother George Shelton.

Dear Church Family,

Thank you for your prayers, and for the love and support you have shown our family. We are convinced that without your prayers we wouldn't have had this last year with Mike.

We would like to thank Bro. Nick, Laura Lee, Evonna, and the deacons for all their help during the visitation and service and thanks for allowing us to use the church. Thank you for the cards, calls, and food, and please continue to pray for us.

Love,

Sheryll, Susan, Billy, Sydney, Tate, & Trace
