Opening of School Information 2017/2018

Welcome to the 2017/2018 school year at Davidson. This newsletter contains opening of school information. We look forward to an exciting and rewarding school year and we are happy to be working with you and your student! It is important that your child picks up his/her schedule according to the schedule below.

Schedule Pick-up Dates and Times

*PARENTS WHO HAVE STUDENTS IN MORE THAN ONE GRADE LEVEL CAN DO THIS ALL IN ONE DAY. BRING SEPARATE CHECKS FOR EACH CHILD’S REGISTRATION, PLEASE.

Warrior Camp Students: Your final activity as a Warrior Camp student is to pick up your schedule in the lecture room. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR $25 REGISTRATION FEE IN ORDER TO PICK UP YOUR SCHEDULE.

Steps for Schedule Pick-Up

Step 1: Front Entrance—Registration status checked.

a.  If student’s online registration is not sealed, parent/guardian and student will go to Room 135 to complete the online registration.

i.  2 proofs of residence and parent/guardian ID required if you meet one of the following criteria:

1.  if student is new to Davidson (this includes all incoming freshmen)

2.  if guardianship info has changed

3.  if address has changed

b.  If student’s online registration is sealed, parent/guardian and student will report to the lecture room.

Step 2: Lecture Room

c.  Pay $25.00 registration fee (ALL STUDENTS 9-12) --This covers locker fee, one ID badge, first aid, and postage

d.  Clear any outstanding book fees

e.  Pay Senior Fee-$125.00. (Price increases to $135 on October 1st) Includes Yearbook, T- Shirt, Mug, Senior Breakfast, and other senior incidentals. DOES NOT include Cap & Gown. Cap & Gown is purchased separately for $80.

f.  Parking Permit Application ~ Permits will be issued first day of school-Fee will be $25.00 (Please see the back of this page for more detailed information)

g.  Fees for IB Students

i.  10th Grade--$220

ii.  11th Grade--$225

iii.  12th Grade--$220

h.  Yearbook (optional)- $60 before and during registration. We will also accept a $20 down payment to reserve the $60 price. After school begins the price increases to $70.

i.  Pick up schedule\Have school ID made

News and Notes

Tuesday, August 8th is the first full day for students. First bell rings at 7:15 a.m. and the tardy bell rings at 7:20 a.m. Prepare for heavy traffic that morning. All students must be prepared for work with a pen and notebook paper. Breakfast and lunch will be served.

·  Parking permits All automobiles parked on the school grounds must display a current parking decal for the 2017/2018 school year. Decals will be sold at Schedule Pick-up and until August 31st for $25 each. Beginning September 1st, the cost will go up to $35 each. If your car is parked on campus without a current parking decal, you will be fined $10 the first time plus the purchase price of the parking decal. In October, the cost will go up to $50 each, and if fined for the 2ndtime, you will NOT be allowed to park on campus until you have purchased your decal for the going rate and paid the late fine of $25. Please get your parking decals on time – it is for your protection and the protection of your vehicle.

·  DHS Handbooks will be issued to all students. This is an invaluable asset to you and your student. Please read it carefully.

·  Homecoming: The Game is September 21st(Thursday) and the Dance is Friday, September 22nd. The dance is at the Riverview from 7:30 – 11:00.Tickets will be $35 each beginning August 28 – September 8th; September 11th– 15ththey are $40 each; September 18-19 $50 each; September 20th– 21st$60 each; September 22 they will be $75 each. Also there is a $20 fee for bringing anyone that does not attend Davidson High School. Tickets will go on sale on Monday, September19thand they are nontransferable and nonrefundable. All students grades 9-12 are invited to attend this dance providing there are no serious discipline issues.

·  Ticket prices are as follows:

·  August 28—September 8th--$35 each

·  September 11th—September 15th--$40 each

·  September 18th and 19th - $50 each

·  September 20th and 21st - $60 each

·  September 22nd FINAL DAY TO PURCHASE - $75 each.

·  *$20 additional fee for bringing a date who does not attend Davidson*

·  Tickets will be available during LUNCH Waves only in Room 135.

·  Early Dismissal Policy for MCPSS

o  Students can only be checked out by persons listed as emergency contacts in Registration Gateway.

o  All persons checking out students must be at least 18 years old and must show a valid picture ID…no exceptions!!

o  Early Dismissals will be granted only by written parent request and never by telephone (verbal) request. Notes must be signed by a parent/guardian, have a valid telephone number and presented in the office by 8:00 a.m.

o  NO EARLY DISMISSALS AFTER 2:15 P.M. This interferes with normal school closing and bus traffic.
