Prime Ministers of Australia

An excellent resource of information from the National Archives of Australia. A quick search will yield information of a prime minister's background, elections, and performance in office, his wife and life after. You can also access fast facts, a who's who of key individuals in the prime minister's tenure and a research map or pathfinder to further information located within the National Archives. Thanks to Maryanne Gosling of ERL for this info.

Roll Call of Soldiers

The Australian War Memorial has launched a site which allows you to search for people who were enlisted in Australian services in World War II. There are several ways to search the database, and the different forms are linked from the front page. You can search by name, service number, or place (of birth, enlistment, or residence at enlistment.)

New Old Library Opens

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina library has just reopened its physical and virtual doors. A direct intellectual descendant of the famous ancient Library of Alexandria and an ambitious new library in Egypt. You can browse the Internet collection via the Wayback Machine interface on the Bibliotheca Alexandrina site.

Librarians strike back- After the Dot-Bomb

Digitized Local History at Boroondara

Boroondara has recently scanned and catalogued part of their local history photographic collection online. Click on local history photographs under the Fast Searches Column. Thanks to Laurie Atkinson for this.

Catalogue Blogger

A weblog devoted to cataloguing, Catalogblog provides news of catalogue standards, MARC tools and links to other library blogs. Doesn’t get any better than this!

Teen Librarians Unite

The site is an online community aimed at librarians specialising in young adult literature. You can access a message board, chat room, directory of librarians, links to other sites of interest, news stories, and interviews.

Between the stacks
