The NCETM, in conjunction with the Maths Hubs programme, has begun work with researchers at Oxford University on a project funded by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) centred on developing mathematical reasoning in Year 2 pupils.
During the project, in the school year 2016/17, pupils in 80 schools will receive 12 weekly, one-hour instruction sessions, led by a teacher and using online resources. Outside lesson time, the pupils will have the opportunity to play online games linked to the resources and designed to build on the reasoning skills developed in the classroom sessions.
After the 12 weeks, the pupils will be tested and results compared against a control group of 80 schools not receiving the lessons.

NTU Raising the Grade Maths Conference between 21-24 March 2016

We are looking for excellent maths teachers to support the delivery of the NTU Raising the Grade Maths Conference between 21-24 March 2016.
We have a number of what used to be ASTs and aspiring ASTs who lead sessions on this event, but this year, we have seen some of our usual delivery team leave the area, or be unavailable. We are therefore looking to welcome some new members to join the team as a CPD opportunity; working alongside other maths teachers to develop exciting, interactive resources which help C/D borderline students tackle difficult aspects of the maths curriculum. In return, NTU is willing to cover the cost of any supply cover that their school incurs.
If you’re not aware of the Raising the Grade Maths Conference, there is more general information available here:
