Welcome to October Titans, This Is Dr. Crowther with Announcements for the Week of October

Welcome to October Titans, this is Dr. Crowther with announcements for the week of October 3, 2016.

First off, an invitation to all parents to our second “CHAT,” or “Coffee Hour at Toll” this Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. in room 1208. Please come for a cup of coffee, a bite and questions and answers on all things Toll.

Next, a thank you to the many families that donated canned goods as part of last month’s food drive for the Glendale Food Pantry. Collectively, our Titans gathered nearly 2,700 items to restock the pantry for needy families in our community. Way to go Toll! Two 7th grade cores, the Panthers and Tigers collected nearly 1900 items between them, an absolutely amazing effort.

Now through October 14 we are collecting used winter jackets as part of the District’s efforts with “Coats for Kids.” Please consider donating unwanted winter clothing of all sizes to help keep a kiddo warm this winter season. A box will be out in the foyer starting Monday. Thank you for thinking of others as the holiday season approaches.

The annual Toll Fund is underway and the Dash of the Titans is coming October 19. These are the two biggest fundraising efforts at Toll each year. Check out our website for more information on these two important home-to-school campaigns. We ask that your household consider giving on whatever level you can. The Toll Foundation has raised more than $40,000 in each of the last two years in support of our Titans. See the website and bring questions to our CHAT on Tuesday. Thank you.

Wednesday is “Walktober,” and we invite students to meet us at Freemont Park at 7:30 a.m. and walk to school as part of the National Walk-to-School Day.

Also Wednesday, our Titans return to the basketball court for home games against Roosevelt. Please note both the girls’ and boys’ teams will be hosting these games against the Rough Riders at Hoover High School.

Finally, please note that this week is the end of the first quarter. Students will receive a progress report. This is the midway point of the semester and is an important marker for every student, especially 8th graders who are in danger of not promoting, and those looking to promote with distinction of Green or Gold come June.

This completes the announcements for the week of October 3, have a wonderful Sunday evening with your family.
