Homework

Homework will be assigned daily and work must be shown in order to get full credit. Assignments are due when class begins the next day. Late work will not be accepted for any credit. Assignments will be worth 4 points each and will be graded based on effort and completion. All work must be done in pencil or full credit will not be given. If assignments are incomplete, partial credit may be given.

Once homework is checked and answers are given, I will answer any questions regarding the homework. Remember that we can learn from our mistakes, so make sure that you ask questions for understanding.

There will be times when I will collect an assignment to grade or I will have students complete work in class that I will collect and grade. Those assignments will be worth 5 - 20 points each.

Notes

Students are expected to take notes on a daily basis. Quizzes will be given over the notes taken. If students are absent, notes can be found on the front table in the class folder. Students are expected to copy the notes and return them to the folder by the end of the period or the next school day. Notes along with examples should assist students in completing homework.

Vocabulary

Students will define key terms for each chapter studied. Vocabulary will be given at the beginning of each chapter for students to define. At the end of each chapter, students will be quizzed over the vocabulary.

Quizzes

I will give 6 to 10 quizzes in a grading period including note quizzes (20 points), chapter vocabulary quizzes (30 points), and chapter quizzes (24-45 points each). Two quiz retakes are allowed in a 9-week period with a maximum score of 80%.

Tests

I will give 2 to 3 tests in a grading period worth 100 points each.

Absences

If you are absent from school, check the assignment clipboard in the classroom or my page on the school website for your assignment. You will get two days to make up an assignment for each day that you were absent. A make-up assignment must be turned in within the time frame allowed or students will receive a zero. If you need to make up a quiz or test, you will need to come in during success period, get a pass to come in for SRT, or stay after school.

Extra Help

If you are struggling and need help, please see me during Success or SRT. You must get your agenda signed by me and present it to your SRT teacher before coming to my SRT on Tuesdays or Thursdays.
