Positions:

Scientist for
Ultrasound /
  • Design, development, and testing of ultrasound algorithm prototypes
  • Conduction of primary market research studies in applicable clinical environments
  • Translation of customer requirements into quantifiable product requirements
  • Prepare, conduct, and analyze simulated use studies with mock ups and models.
  • Support the development of production/test methodologies within the company, working closely with systems engineering functions to ensure effective transfer of new designs into production.

  • Knowledgeable on the full domain of medical ultrasound system components, functionality, and application

Scientist for Ultrasound Image Processing /
  • Review existing image processing algorithms especially for ultrasound breast. The algorithms include de-noise, segmentation, feature extraction, etc.
  • Implement and compare algorithms, and work together with the team to develop in-house image segmentation algorithm for specific use
  • Work in close collaboration with clinical partner to manage and process the data and optimize the algorithms based on the clinical feedback
  • Generate intelligent properties and publications

  • Majored in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering or computer science, minimum is master degree, a PhD degree is preferred, and publication in leading international conferences/journals is a plus
  • Have solid background in medical image processing, numerical analysis, pattern recognition & signal processing, experience with ultrasound medical image segmentation is highly desirable
  • Rapid prototype development of new algorithmic ideas and concepts is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in a high level programming language matlab is required, c/c++/c# is plus, knowledge of databases (SQL, Oracles...) is plus

Scientist for Clinical Informatics /
  • Play an active role in the project team by contributing creative ideas aimed at designing and developing healthcare IT solutions (e.g. CDS, EMR, Tele-medicine systems, etc.) for hospitals to help enhance their efficiency and the quality of their healthcare service. Creative ideas should result in patents that protect potential future expansion of our healthcare business.

Scientist for MRI Pulse Sequence / Successful candidates will have a strong experience in MRI physics and sequence development on Philips or other MR Scanners. They will have experience engaging with clinical fields such as physicians and psychiatrists to collaborate in research. The research projects will primarily focus on MRI pulse sequences development, including accelerated imaging techniques and signal quantitation. The position is available immediately and applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. /
  • Completed Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Biomedical Engineering or other related field;
  • Development experience with MRI pulse sequences. Familiarity with the Philips Paradise (Goal-C) tool is a plus.

Scientist for MRI Coil Design /
  • Design, development and fabrication of RF coil prototypes

Principal/Senior Clinical Scientist – Ultrasound /
  • Design, execute, and analyze short to long term clinical trials of new Philips ultrasound devices and technologies in China.
  • Support all ongoing ultrasound research projects in China by knowing and living the applicable clinical work flow to perform quick, nimble primary market research studies in both premiere and rural hospitals across China.
  • As an innovation leader, assist researchers in the netting and prioritization of clinical requirements to create foundations for next generation technologies.

  • MD or PhD Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Physics, or other related disciplines.

− A wide range of clinical applications of ultrasound in screening, diagnosis, and image guidance is required, with prior published research in surgical guidance, anesthesia, critical care, and/or emergency medicine highly preferred. Sample publications are welcomed.
−High level understanding of human physiology and anatomy.
−Programming and simulation languages such as MATLAB, C, C++, as well as statistical analysis software.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in laboratory or clinical ultrasound research for a commercial ultrasound organization or academic facility is required.

  • Propose and conduct research projects on lighting electronics with medium and long-term impact on SSL systems and applications and/or in other related lighting areas; Helping to solve critical short-term problems when needed;

  • Collaborate with scientists with an electronics and physics background to model, design, build up, characterize and optimize optical systems for LED lighting applications
  • Using optical simulation and design software to model and design secondary optics, light-guides and out-coupling structures; Propose and conduct research projects on lighting optical design with medium and long-term impact on SSL systems and applications and/or in other related lighting areas; Helping to solve critical short-term problems when needed;

Scientist for Lighting Perceptual Study /
  • Building up the team competence in visual perception, experimental psychology design, and experience with lighting perception
  • Consulting and solving the technical challenges in visual perception experiment design and statistical analysis
  • Taking the lead in designing new experiment for visual perception study and conducting visual perception experiment for different lighting applications.
  • Interpreting experimental results by applying theoretical models & mathematical models.

Principal Thermal Scientist /
  • Thermal modeling, simulation and
measurement for LED Retrofit lamp system
  • Thermal design for LED Retrofit lamp

−Verify and improve thermal modeling by analysis the measurement data
−Core member during new lamp platform definition and feasibility study
−Interact with system architect, technical project leader and other team members to deliver the state-of-art thermal design: cost effective, max thermal performance, reliable thermal stability during lifetime (eg. proper thermal interface design)
  • Scout, benchmark and bring new/emerging thermal technology, materials and solutions into our product design in order to improve the performance, lower the cost, and realize never-possible features

Scientist for Sensing Application /
  • Take a lead in scouting, evaluating and developing innovative sensing solutions for in/outdoor lighting applications for improved energy consumption, comfort and safety.
  • Help identify research directions on sensing technologies that are potentially low cost and have high impact on the Philips Lighting business, based on thorough understanding of up-to-date technological development in relevant sensing areas.
  • Contribute to building up the group know-how and competency around sensing technologies and their applications.
  • Be responsible for smooth and efficient execution of research projects, and taking efforts in turning the research outcome into business opportunities.
