FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Weinberg Accepting Donations of Artifacts, Personal Stories
FREDERICK, Md., Monday, August 1,2016—In celebration of its landmark venue turning 90 years old this December, the Weinberg Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the launch of its #ShareYourWeinbergdrive. Recognizing the Frederick community’s deep affection for the former Tivoli movie palace, the organization invites patrons new and old to celebrate by sharing their piece of Weinberg Center history. Now through October 31, the Weinberg Center is accepting donations and loans of artifacts, photos, and personal stories related to its beloved venue.
The Weinberg Center encourages the Frederick community to permanently donate or temporarily lend artifacts – including photographs, posters, newspaper ads and stories, lobby cards, playbills, and other promotional materials – dated between 1926 and 2000. Personal anecdotes and stories from 1926 to the present will also be collected. From first date and proposal stories to personal family histories surrounding the venue, no story is too small. For more information on collection policies and how to donate or loan an artifact, or contribute a story, please visit WeinbergCenter.org/ShareYourWeinberg.
Gifted and loaned artifacts will be utilized for a new display in the Weinberg Center lobby, or photographed for inclusion on an exhibit panel. Stories will likewise be utilized for exhibit panels and additional #ShareYourWeinberg efforts. The updated #ShareYourWeinberg display will be unveiled at a December 23, 2016 screening of The Strong Man; the silent film was screened 90 years ago on the same date at the Tivoli’s opening night.
Additional questions regarding #ShareYourWeinberg may be directed to Rebecca O’Leary, Manager of Development, at 301.600.2870.
A complete listing of artists and performers scheduled for the 2016-2017 season can be found at WeinbergCenter.org beginning August 4.
