-understand and represent commonly used fractions, such as 1/4, 1/3, and 1/2.
CCGPS Content Standard / MCC1.G.3 Partition circles and rectangles into two and four equal shares, describe the shares
using the words halves, fourths, and quarters, and use the phrases half of, fourth of, and quarter
of. Describe the whole as two of, or four of the shares. Understand for these examples that
decomposing into more equal shares creates smaller shares.

Objective of the Activity / The students will review fractions through a series of questions and a board game.
Materials needed / -The book “Whole-Y Cow! Fractions Are Fun!” by Taryn Souders
-makers or counter for placement on board game
-Whole-y Cow board game
Teacher Directions / -The teacher will read the book “Whole-y Cow! Fractions Are Fun!” by Taryn Souders.
-The teacher will discuss the story and review fractions.
-The teacher will place the students into different groups and explain the board game for the students to play.
-The teacher will walk around and observe the students playing the game and help if needed.
Student Directions / -The students will listen to the book “Whole-y Cow! Fractions Are Fun!” by Taryn Souders.
-The students will participate in the classroom discussion about fractions
-The students will split into groups and play the board game.
