Time for Kids is seeking

EXTERNAL ASSESSMENT PANEL MEMBERS

The Time for Kids’ External Assessment Panel is a committee responsible for reviewing carer and mentor assessments developed by the Time for Kids service team as part of a rigorous assessment process for applicants seeking to become carers or mentors through Time for Kids. Panel members provide feedback and recommendations on formal assessment reports that reflect contemporary community standards to ensure we are meeting the highest possible standards of quality and safety for our children.

We are seeking new members to join our External Assessment Panel with formal qualifications and a professional background in human services delivery. As a volunteer panel member,you will play an invaluable role in the assessment of prospective carers and mentors, and thus directly contribute to the delivery of safe and secure volunteer respite care to our children.

This volunteer position will be a two yearappointment. Applicants must be able and willing to attend regular panel meetings of 1.5 hours duration, that take place every four to six weeks outside of business hours at Enfield Community Centre.

DUTIES

•Thoroughly review all assessment reports submitted to panel members, seeking further information or clarification from the service team where required.

•Work collaboratively with the service team in identifying recommendations resulting from any assessment report.

•Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of research and evidence-based practice, including knowledge of relevant policies, procedures and legislation, including but not limited to the Children’s Protection Act.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Appointees will meet one or more of the following criteria:

•Professional experience or qualifications in psychology, social work or community development.

•Understanding of the work of Time for Kids and the value of high quality, safe and nurturing respite care.

•Understanding of current research and practice methodology relating to child safety, particularly the matter of child sexual abuse in institutions.

•Contemporary understanding of Australian demographics and lifestyles and how these relate to applications for approval as a carer or mentor through Time for Kids.

RELATIONSHIPS

Members of the External Panel are supported by the Time for Kids service team and work collaboratively with fellow Panel members.
