  1. The Transformation and Impact of the Chinese Urban Economy, Mon-Tues, April 3-4: This international conference organized by the UAlbany Confucius Institute will take place in Alumni House on campus. Prominent economist Barry Naughton (University of California San Diego) and sociologist Victor Nee (Cornell University) are the keynote speakers, and the other presenters are invited speakers from MIT, Columbia, Brown, UCLA and universities in HK, China and Canada. It is a multidisciplinary conference with speakers in economics, sociology, political science, geography, planning, and public management, presenting research on topics such as urban reform, urban economy, urban housing, urbanization and migration, and urban sustainability. There is no registration fee, and refreshment and lunch will be provided to participants.But registration is required and seats are limited. Please email to register. Environmental Scholarship funded by Theodore Gordon Flyfishers: The Theodore Gordon Flyfishers Founders Fund Scholarship is offered annually, in the name of the TGF founders, to a single recipient who has demonstrated excellence and outstanding dedication in an area of study that falls within an environmental field of a school or department.Apply by April 3 for this $3,500 scholarship, open but not limited to students in the following fields of study: Biology, Ecology, Law & Policy, Environmental Studies or Science, Conservation, Natural Resource Management, Hydrology, Zoology. Eligible students must be enrolled in a full-time program during the entire award year (2017-2018). Open to undergraduate students who will have senior standing as of Fall. Based on a 4.0 scale, the applicant shall demonstrate merit with a current 3.5 GPA in the environmental concentration courses and an overall minimum 3.0 GPA. Pace Law Environmental Consortium Merit Scholarship:Pace Law is offering a “Merit Scholarship” award to a Fall 2017 entering student who is either currently enrolled in or has earned his or her bachelors or masters degree and has demonstrated an interest in environmental issues affecting the Hudson-Mohawk River watershed.Scholarship benefits consist of a merit scholarship ranging from $3,000 to $10,000 towards law school tuition.Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis through April 2017. Interested students should attach a half to one page statement to the Pace Law application of how he or she has been involved in Hudson-Mohawk River watershed environmental issues during their undergraduate work or why they have a particular interest in the environmental issues affecting the region. National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC) Site Assistant Job Posting: For over 20 years, the NSLC has invited a select group of outstanding high school students to participate in its summer sessions. The NSLC is in the process of assembling a dedicated, passionate staff for its 2017 summer programs at universities across the United States. Currently, there are openings for the Site Assistant position. Site Assistants work primarily from the office and are responsible for much of the “behind the scenes” work that makes the program run smoothly from day to day. They generally work the entire summer, from set-up tobreak-down of the site.Site assistants will be paid a stipend at the end of each session and NSLC pays forroom & board, as well as transportation to and from the conference.   5. 8th University Scholars Leadership Symposium (USLS) 2017 at United Nations, Bangkok, Thailand, August 1st-7th 2017: The theme of the Symposium is “Building LIFE, Giving HOPE”. About 1,000 emerging world leaders from the United Nations Member States are expected to participate in this event, which focuses on developing leaders to bring social change. Our university has been informed of this Leadership Development in Social Change Program and we would like to invite 3 outstanding members of the Honors College to attend. The USLS is a week-long Leadership Conference in Social Development for young leaders from all over the world. Our young participants will learn what it means to give back to the community and be challenged to respond to the needs of the marginalized with works of kindness and unconditional service. As a delegate, you will have the opportunity to expand your professional network and understanding of world affairs.
