Anticipatory set for “My Favorite Chaperone”, introduction of the idea of being the other /
- Bellwork: Focus Parts of Speech
- Vocab—go over the analogies worksheet
- Handout: Outsiders, must have to start in two weeks.
- Students will have a splash of countries in front of the room. They will do a fun activity to guess the countries. (5 minutes).
- Discuss the different cultures that we see at these countries. What is their family’s culture. How is it different. ETC.
- Show them the map of Russia. Who can guess where this is?
- Show pictures of Russian things. Have students list five differences that they see.
- Introduce the concept of My Favorite Chaperone. Pass out the handout. Begin listening to the story as students fill in the handout.
- Students will work in partnerships to complete close reader worksheets together.
