Title: / Birthing Kit Assembly Day
Background / Context: / The Birthing Kit Foundation (Australia) is an organisation dedicated to providing a clean and safe birthing environment for women in developing countries to reduce the incidence of infant and maternal morbidity and mortality. It is estimated that over 300,000women die annually in childbirth, many from preventable infections. That’s over 800 women every day.
Objective: / We aim to support women to give birth safely in developing countries by providing birthing kits

Major risks and minimisation strategies / Major risks will include:
not raising the funds to purchase enough kits
not being prepared for the requirements on the Assembly Day regarding hygiene
team members being unwell or leaving
we will minimise these risks by:
intensive marketing of our project both on social media and in person around the school
planning in our timeline when things need to be done and completing the tasks on time
have a back up plan for support on the day if someone is unwell
Issue management / If we have problems we will:
  • Meet as a team and discuss possible solutions
  • Take those solutions to our teacher to discuss

Related projects / This project is part of a bigger Birthing Kit Australia project.
Guidelines / standards / We will need to follow all procedures in the Birthing Kit Foundation Assembly Day Manual
Capturing the lessons learnt / We will present a 10 minute presentation to the class outlining our successes, challenges and what we would do differently if we were to do this project again
