WEDNESDAY NIGHT STAGECOACHIn-House POOL LEAGUE

PURPOSE:

This Pool League was established to promote fun, friendship and the sport of billiards.

A. League Organization:

1. Officers: The league will have two officer positions: PresidentSecretary. The President is responsible for maintaining order at all meetings, enforcing league rules and answering questions from the teams throughout the season. The Secretary will be responsible for the collections of team/bar fees, keeping league standings/records. The President and Secretary cannot be from the same team.

2. Board of Directors: The Board of Directors will consist of the Officers and one captain from each of the teams in the league. The Board of Directors will be responsible for attending league meetings and voting on issues that may arise during the season.

  1. Eligibility:
  2. No Minors Allowed. All players must be 18 years or older and have their parent present in order to play, and no more than 2 per team. All players must accept and follow all House Rules. (House is the establishment you are playing in).
  3. Number of Players. Each team will consist ofsix players, at least two females. A player is not a member of a team until he/she has played their first game for that team. A substitute or regular player can play for multiple teams, since they are all Stagecoach teams.
  4. Changing Teams. A regular player may switch teams ONLY ONCE during the season and the switch must occur before theend of the first half of the season. The player must obtain a release from the previous team captain prior to playing for the new team. That player must play their first game for the new team before the first half ends. After the 1st half no changing of teams will be allowed. Violation of this rule will result in forfeiture of all games played by that player after the infraction occurred.
  5. Game Night Rosters and Substitutions. Each Team Captains will submit that night’s roster (lineup) of six players to the opposing Team Captain prior to any games being played. The 3rd and 5th slots reserved for the females. Team captains will not match players by name on their lineups. A lineup MUST contain a player’s name in all six spots or the word forfeit if a player cannot be found prior to the start of the games that night. Team lineups will match players in the sequence they were written. First and last names will be written in the first half; only first names are necessary for the second half. Subs:A team may use any amount of subs during the season. If a sub is needed then the notification to the opposing team captain of the substitution must be made before the rack of the game prior to the substitution. Not doing so will result in a forfeit for that game.
  6. Early Play/Emergencies. If a player requests to play early, both team captains must agree or it will not be granted. That player must leave by the end of the next full game; not doing so will result in their wins for that night to be forfeited. If a player has an emergency and must leave before one or both games are completed, a sub may be used that was not pre-arranged as stated in rule number 4 if both team captains agree.
  7. Starting Times. Match play starting time is 8:00 PM actual time, not bar time. Team rosters will be exchanged no later than 8:00 PM. If games do not commence by 8:15, all games for the first half will be forfeited and rosters need to be exchanged for the second half. The 15 minute grace period is not only for the start time. If the 15 minute grace period is not used at the start of the night, A Captain may use it somewhere else during the game but must coordinate it with the opposing Captain. The grace period can only be used once. Once rosters have been exchanged, no more practice will be allowed, including half time on game table. Accommodations will be made for late workers. 9:00 PM is forfeit time for accommodated players.

  1. You must call every shot loud enough so that the opposing player knows what you are shooting at. Pointing or assuming your opponent knows what you are shooting at is not always good enough, this also applies to the “8” ball. If challenged, it will result in a loss of turn.
  2. Slop. Slop is allowed if you make the object ball you are shooting at. It does not matter how the ball goes in. It can bounce off any ball, or hit 50 cushions, as long as the shot was called. This also applies to the 8 ball.You cannot shoot a combination shot using your opponents ball first, you must make contact with one of your own balls first.
  3. Racking. The home team will rack during the first half; the visitors will rack the second half. The rack must be a standard rack: alternating solids/stripes. It is the responsibility of the home team to have the correct billiard equipment on the game table (correctly numbered balls and same sizeballs).
  4. Break Shots. If you do a bad break shot, you may re-rack if both players of that game agree. If on the break, a ball or balls are pocketed, the table is open until a player makes a called shot. If one ball is made and a scratch occurs, the table is opened for the opposing player.
  5. Illegal Ball Movement. Any ball movementwith hand, shirt, stick or etc.while attempting a shot will result in a loss of turn. If a ball goes off the table or player grabs a scratch cue ball from the pocket and the player throws it back on table and itmakes contact with other balls in play this will result in a forfeit of the game.
  6. Coaching. Telling a player what to shoot, how hard to shoot, or what pocket to shoot at while the player is at the table, will result in a loss of turn. Encouraging your players, is not coaching. Talking to your player after their shot, is not coaching.
  7. Interference. Standing in an opponent’s line of sight while they are shooting, grab the chalk while your opponent is shooting, standing too close to the shooter, or abusive language toward your opponent to try to distract them, is considered interference. This is a serious infraction that will result in a loss of game. If player persists with any of these infractions, they can be banned from the league and all wins prior to the infraction will be forfeited.CAPTAINS: it is ultimately your responsibility to control your teams. Interference on an adjoining table will not be tolerated.
  8. Sportsmanship. Bad sportsmanship can result in a player being banned, or ateam forfeiting all 12 games. Examples of this infraction are disorderly conduct (drunkenness), obscene gesturing, fighting, or abusive language to the opposing team or opponent. Cheering your team is not bad sportsmanship, but there should not be any provocation toward your opponents.
  9. Calling Infractions. Only the current players at the tablecan call a foul. PLEASE PAYATTENTION TO YOUR GAME AND WATCH YOUR TABLE.
  10. Resolving Conflicts. Only the captains and the affected players can make a ruling. If there is not a mutual agreement/resolution, the game will be replayedTHAT NIGHT.
  11. BallsOff the Table. If a player knocks any ball off the table, it will bespotted. If you knock off the 8 ball, it is a loss. If the cue is off the table,it is a scratch ball.
  12. Masses and Jump Shots. Masses are legal, jump shots are not allowed. The owner needs to approve masse shots unless posted otherwise. Thereare no safe shots. An honest attempt will be made to hit the object ball orthe 8 ball. Tapping the cue ball a few inches down the table is not an honest attempt. If after three attempts, there is no change in the balls position a re-rack will be made if captains and players agree.
  13. Scratch. When a scratch occurs, the cue ball must be placed behind the line or in the kitchen. If any part of any stripe or solid ballis touching the line, it is consideredin the kitchen and cannot be shot.
  14. Rescheduling a Game. A team may request a reschedule of a game night onlyif the request is at least 24 hours before game night and a good reason must begiven as to why the whole team cannot make it. Contact team captain andleague Secretary-Treasurer\or President to inform them of the rescheduled games.
  15. New Teams after season begins. If a new team wants to join the League they must do so by the end of the 4th week of play. Any and all games missed must be made up prior to week 8 and the dates must be agreed upon by both Team Captains.
  16. Protests: All protests must be declared on game night. If a team captain protests a game(s) he/she should not sign the score sheet for that night. Instead they should write the word “Protest” on the signature line and mark/highlight those games that they are protesting on both their score sheet and the opponent’s score sheet. The protesting captain will have until Saturday at 5PM to submit a written protest to the league officials describing the facts of the protest (it can be submitted in the team’s weekly envelope). If there are multiple games being protested, a detailed description for each game must be included. Failure to submit the written protest on time will result in a fail protest and games will remain as scored on game night. All protests will be handled by a Board of Directors meeting to discuss and hear the facts from both teams involved. This meeting must occur within 2 weeks of the protested night as not to drag the issue out. After hearing the facts the captains will make a decision by a majority vote if needed. Only one vote per team will be allowed. In case of a tied vote the President will be the tie breaker unless his/her team is involved in the protest. If that is the case then the Secretary will be the tie breaking vote.
  1. Fees/Finances:
  2. Fees. The team fees are $34.00 per game night, ($24.00 from the players and $10.00 from the sponsor). Each player pays $4.00 per night. Each win is guaranteed $4.00. The team captain is responsible for collecting these fees from the players and sponsor (unless other arrangements are made) no later than 5PM the following Saturdayand leaving itat their home bar for pickup. Failure to leave your team’s player fees and bar sponsorship fees at your bar by Saturday at 5PM that same week will result in a $5.00 fine. A team’s failure to pay all fees by the following league night (Wednesday)before 7:00 PM will result in all games being forfeited for the previous week not paidas well as the above $5.00 late charge. League fees and sponsor fees will be picked up at each bar by the secretary sometime after 5PM the following Saturday.A receipt will be given to the Bar the following week if needed.
  3. Payment. The league will accept only cash for weekly payment.
  4. Forfeits. If the team you are scheduled to play and the other team forfeits all 12 games, you still owe the regular league fee of $34.00 to receive those games. The team that forfeited also owes $34.00.
  5. Drop-outs. Teams that drop out will lose all earnings and payments made and will be transferred to the BONUS pot. If at mid-season or later, all remaining teams retain all earnings and scores for that first half before the mid-season only.
  6. Game Play. The Host bar will supply an open table for all players to play during game night.
  7. Free Practice. The Host bar will supply an open table for both Teams to practice from 7:00 to 8:00. Failure to do so will result in a $10.00 fine or a forfeiture of all 12 games. The Host Team can practice between 7:00 to 7:30. The Visiting Team can practice from 7:30 to 8:00. All practice games are to be played on the same table used for league play. Both Teams can continue to practice, at their own expense, on any available table.
  8. Tournaments. There will be an optional female open tournament and a male open tournament at the end of season (TBD). A meeting will determine the days, such as one weekend, and format chosen by captains taking. The entry fee will be $5.00.If possible, tournament site will open tables for practice prior to tournament beginning. Subs or any player must play 25% of the season to be eligible to play in the tournaments.
  1. End of Season Tournament: A Men’s and Woman’s MVP tournament will be scheduled and decided by Team Captains at the end of season meeting. The Women can play in both the Men’s or Woman’s tournament.
  2. Tournament Payouts:First Place 50%, Second Place 30% and Third Place 20%.
  3. President: The league President will act as a mediator between the Teams or Shooters for any issues not resolved by B 11 above if any such issues should arise.
  4. Bonus Money. At the end of the season, bonus money (sponsor fees collected during the season) will be divided based on the following percentage (percentages will be adjusted based on number of teams in the league):

Bonus Money is what is left after Secretary-Treasurers fee, cost for supplies and trophies aretaken out of the sponsor fees. Percentages may change based upon the number of teams in the league

  1. Banquet/Scratch Pot

A banquet will be held at the end of the season (TDB). Each team will maintain a scratch pot in which no more than $20 from that scratch pot will be provided to the host bar to pay for the meat for the banquet. If the Team does not maintain a scratch pot they must donate $20 collected from Team members.

NOTE:Team captains are responsible for turning in their weekly score sheets with the weekly fees so that the website can be update no later than 12 p.m. on Tuesday. Captains who fail to turn in their score sheets will prevent the correct standings from being displayed on the web site.

These by-laws/rules were voted on and approved at the season organizational meeting by the team representatives present at the meetingon April 12, 2014.
