Webster County 4-H Youth Grants
ANNUAL APPLICATION DEADLINE IS April 1, 2017
Webster County 4-H members may apply for the Webster County Youth Grant Program, which is an outgrowth of the Iowa Promise Grant due to the discontinuation of the Promise Grant Program after 2009. The Promise Grant was originally established in result of the 1998 Iowa Summit Initiative and its emphasis on youth and community service.
This program has been designed to help Webster County 4-H’ers make a connection between their activities and the larger picture of contributing to fulfilling the Five Promises in their community.
Grants of up to $250 may be requested.

POSSIBLE IDEAS FOR “WEBSTER COUNTY 4-H YOUTH GRANT”
· “Adopt” a park, camp, community center, library or children’s program at a library.
· Planting and caring for a vegetable garden for a food bank.
· Grow and sell produce for a local farmer’s market with proceeds going to a local food bank.
· Planting and caring for a vegetable or flower garden for a nursing home or senior citizen housing.
· Marking trails at a local park or camp
· General community clean-up.
· Planting and maintaining a butterfly garden at a nursing home, park, or school.
· Building or repairing picnic tables or benches at a park, nursing home, etc.
· Public education activity for drug awareness.
Past Grant Funding opportunities were used to:
· work with Upper Des Moines for purchasing supplies for the Back to School Bash.
· work with Beacon of Hope and prepare a meal for them.
· Purchase supplies for pillow case dresses for Haiti.
· provide STEM activities during an out of school program @ FDMS.
· Purchase supplies and mailing to those serving in the Iowa Air National Guard.
· update the Butterfly Garden in Gowrie .
· build poultry cages
