Installation Guide

Note:The drive with the installation files will be referred to as drive X. Please substitute this drive letter with the appropriate CD or network drive letter. If the required files were downloaded from a website and placed into a temporary installation directory, substitute this drive letter for the temporary installation directory.

Note:You cannot use ghosting or disk imaging to install this software. You must install the software on each machine separately.

Step 1.Install WAS.

Insert the CD labeled WAS40AE and run C40AUML-WebSphere AE V4.0.exe to unzip the WebSphere AE installation package into a temp directory (e.g. X:\temp).
Run nt\setup.exe from the temp directory.
Choose English as Setup Language. Press the OK button.
In the Installation Option screen, select Custom Installation.
In the Choose Application Server Components screen, deselect IBM Universal Database.
In the Product Directory screen, enter:

WebSphere Application Server Destination Directory: c:\WebSphere\AppServer

IBM HTTP Serever Destination Directory: c:\IBM HTTP Server

In theChoose Webserver plugins screen, select IBM HTTP server.
In the Security Options screen, enter:

Username: wasadmin

Password: wasadmin

In the Database options screen, enter:

Database type: db2

Database name: was40

Database User ID: wasadmin

Password: wasadmin

Path: <db2 installation directory>

Reboot the machine after finishing the installation.
Check <was install directory>\logs\wassetup.log and wasdb2.log to make sure no errors.

Step 2. Verify IBM HTTP Server’s installation.

IHS can be affected by the host name setting. This is especially the case, if you have installed the software from a disk image and later changed the host name.

Open IE or Netscape. Enter the URL:

Confirm that the IBM HTTP Server home page appears in the Web browser.

Step 3. Verify IBM WebSphere Application Server’s installation.

Start the IBM WS AdminServer from the Windows Control Panel Services. Wait until it is started.
Launch the WebSphere admin console by selecting, from the Windows Start menu, Programs -> IBM WebSphere -> Application Server AE V4.0 -> Administrator’s Console.
Look at console message. Make sure that there are no errors and then click the Clear button to clear the messages.
Start the Default Server.
Open a Web browser, and enter the following URL

This should show you the following test page.
