What will I be doing?

St Mungo’s Broadwaywork has a strong focus on the health and wellbeing of our clients. The Health and Homelessness project works to improve health access and decrease health inequalities for residents living in supported accommodation, residents receiving a service from floating support and clients currently rough sleeping. The role will involve working with an existing Research and Resource Development Team to design and implement a website for the Hammersmith and Fulham Health and Homelessness Project and the Westminster Health and Homelessness Coordination Project.

What skills and qualities do I need?

  • You will need experience and knowledge of designing and developing a website. It is essential that the applicant is able to provide an example of an existing website at the interview stage.
  • Experience of drawing up detailed website specifications
  • Experience of designing sample page layouts including text size and colours
  • Experience of designing graphics, animations and manipulating digital photographs
  • Experience of registering web domain names and organising the hosting of the website
  • Knowledge of search engine optimisation (preferable but not essential)
  • The ability to meet relevant legal requirements such as accessibility standards, freedom of information and privacy
  • Proven ability to design the website’s visual imagery and ensure it is in line with company branding policy and the requirements of the project coordinators
  • Experience of proofreading content and grammar and making changes where necessary
  • The ability to edit content, debug code and re-design web pages where necessary
  • The ability to test the website to ensure it is working
  • Ability to train staff how to manage and keep the website updated.
  • Knowledge of categorising content in terms of site navigation and funnelling traffic through to the important content

What commitment do I need to make?

  • This role requires commitment of up to 4 hours per week, however times and dates are flexible and will be agreed with the project coordinator.

What support will I receive?

  • Induction training to prepare you to volunteer and access to additional training
  • Regular support from your volunteer supervisor
  • There is a dedicated Volunteer Services team to support your volunteering
  • Volunteer travel expenses are reimbursed
  • Lunch allowance of £4.00 per day if you volunteer for more than four hours in one day
