Website Administration

Mansfield U3A Website ( has three levels of administration:

  • Administrator; Editor; Page Editor

Administrator’s Role and Tasks:

  • To oversee the administration of the Mansfield U3A website, having overall responsibility for its management and content within the agreed policies of the Committee.

Tasks:

  1. To monitor the website’s top-level pages and ensure that they are up-to-date and acceptably accurate.
  2. To oversee and monitor the security of the site, the email addresses and the passwords.

3.To advise and train the Editors in their roles and to liaise with them in all relevant tasks.

4.To monitor and upload the Events diary.

5.To monitor and upload the Newsletter and Minutes if requested.

6.To encourage members to make use of, and contribute to, the website.

7.To advise on the formatting and uploading of relevant documents and photographs to the website and to Flickr and the Cloud.

8.Interest Groups:

  • To encourage and enable Group Leaders to edit their group pages.
  • To create and remove Interest Group pages as required / requested.
  • To monitor Interest Group descriptions and correct if needed.
  • To monitor Interest Group page content and update if requested.
  • To monitor and update as required website editing pages

9.To identify information and links which, if added to the website, would benefit members of Mansfield U3A.

Editors’ Role and Tasks:

  • To be aware of their responsibilities to the Committee and members of Mansfield U3A and to work within the agreed policies of the Committee.
  • To aid the Administrator in performing his/her role and tasks.
  • To liaise with the Administrator when performing their tasks and to ensure he/she is aware of their actions.
  • To actively aid the Administrator in items 6 – 9 above.
  • To ensure that they are able to undertake the tasks assigned to them by being trained in the functions of the website.

Page Editors’ Role and Tasks:

  • To be aware of their responsibilities to the Committee and members of Mansfield U3A for the proper control of the content of their pages.
  • To develop the content of their pages and ensure that it is published in as clear and correct a way as possible and to keep it up-to-date.
  • To request help from the Editors to develop / manage the content if needed.
  • To agree to be trained in the editing of their respective pages.

General:

All levels of administration should:

a.exercise due diligence with regard to the disclosure of email addresses, home addresses and telephone numbers of members of Mansfield U3A and should be aware that the website is available to the public at large.

b.ensure that, while it is assumed that all members are happy to be photographed and to have the photographs published on the website and on Flickr, it is polite to seek permission of all people being photographed.

c.ensure that no personal information is placed on the website without the permission of the person involved
