WebCatSubmission Plugin to Turnin Programming Projects

With Eclipse installed, download WebCat's submit plugin to make it easy to submit projects from Eclipse

Uncompress this archive file
Copy the three highlighted folders (beginning with net.sf.webcat) into the Eclipse plugins folder:
- Windows:Where you installed Eclipse. could be:C:\Program Files\eclipse\plugins
- For Macs, copy these three folders into your folder ending with /Applications/eclipse/plugins
Set Preferences to find and submit your projects to WebCat. From Eclipse, select
1) Windows or Linux: Window > Preferences > Electronic Submission
2) Mac: Preferences > Electronic Submission
Using your own Default username and your own email address, fill in the four fields using this url for the Assignment definition URL (Recommended: Copy and paste this long url into the first field):
Click OK
Turning in Projects to WebCat
Right click on your project name
Select the Submit button (near the bottom of the list of options). WebCat will return the list of currently published projects under C Sc 127 and/or C Sc 227 (the selections vary weekly)
Click on the appropriate project name, which will be something other than the projects shown above
Make sure UserName has your correct WebCat user name
Type in your WebCat password
Click Next and Finish. Webcat will post a page to the Eclipse Web Browser, which may indicate an incorrect password or feedback indicating your code is being examined, but is usually the feedback page
Click view your graded results and wait until the report is posted back to you
Wait until WebCat posts results back to the Eclipse browser--could take 15-45 seconds
If you get 100%, Congratulations!
Alternative WebCat Submission (no plugin required)
Use this if the WebCat submission for Eclipse does not work for you or you prefer this method for turning in programming projects.
Login to WebCat at should see "Assignments Accepting Submissions". Leave your browser on this page
From Eclipse, for each new submission, create an archive file like this:
Click on the Project Name
SelectFile > Export > General > Archive File > Next
Browse to a convenient location for storing the archive file (such as your Desktop)
After Save As: enter a file name like 1_JaneDoe.zip (except with your name)
ClickSaveandFinish
From WebCat,for each new submission,
Click on the tiny icon for uploading, which is the first icon under Action for the project to which you want to submit (if you can't find it, hover over the icons)
Click theBrowseButtonto find your locally stored archive file (referenced above as1_JaneDoe.zip)
Click theUpload Submission Button
If the browser shows the files you want to submit, click Confirm (if not, browse to the correct .zip file)
Remember, if you are want to resubmit an improved version of your code, you must
export a new .zip file containing your project before submitting to WebCat.
