Dear Parent,

We’ve had a really fun week with your child, and want to thank your family for participating in EarthKeepers!

As we wrapped up the week, we talked about how we don’t need a lot of things to be happy. In fact, sometimes things really get in the way!

Now that you’ve learned a bit about Pope Francis’ encyclical through the week, we invite to learn a little more about it at an adult level. Visit CatholicCreationCare.com to learn more.

Thank you again for joining us, and we hope to see you and your family again soon.

God bless,

The EarthKeepers Team

We Live More Simply and Joyfully!

Bible verse: “Watch out and guard yourselves from every kind of greed; because your true life is not made up of the things you own, no matter how rich you may be.” (Luke 12: 15)

Bible story: The Greedy Farmer (Luke 12:13-21)

From Pope Francis

We need to take up an ancient lesson, found in different religious traditions and also in the Bible. It is the conviction that “less is more”. A constant flood of new consumer goods can baffle the heart and prevent us from cherishing each thing and each moment…. It is a return to that simplicity which allows us to stop and appreciate the small things, to be grateful for the opportunities which life affords us, to be spiritually detached from what we possess, and not to succumb to sadness for what we lack.… It is not a lesser life or one lived with less intensity. On the contrary, it is a way of living life to the full.

HOME CHALLENGE

Our last home challenge for you is to simplify your life a bit by giving away some things that you don’t use any more. Help your child sort through clothes closets, bookshelves, and toys and games for things that are cluttering up your life. Make sure you don’t just throw them out, but find someone else who can use them.

You can also catch up on any other home challenges you didn’t have time for during the week.We also encourage you to have a conversation with your child about everything they learned this week, and if there’s anything else they would like to do in response.
