General Evaluation Requirements:

  • Students must meet all given requirements.
  • You must have a proper attitude.
  • All techniques must be at high-test level.
  • You must have the proper amount of classes in succession between each evaluation period.
  • All testing fees must be paid before your test date. Testing Fees are $40.00 per test per person. All monthly dues must be paid up to date.
  • Private half hour lessons available $20.00 (please schedule if needed)
  • Students must have all test forms completed on the front and the back and turned in before your test date. Parent’s and teacher’s signatures are mandatory. All chores must be complete. Students must have their report card or some proof of their grades during the school season. (please note: that the parents may vouch for the teachers and the school grades)
  • All green stripes and up must bring their sparring gear to the school on their pre-test and testing date.
  • Uniforms must be white, pressed, and odor free. Only traditional uniforms are to be worn during the test. No school t-shirts or black uniforms may be worn during testing.
  • Uniforms should have School patch on front and Tae Kwon Do patch on left sleeve.
  • Grading requirements are subject addition or subtraction at instructor’s discretion.
  • Refer to student handbook on website for testing requirements for each belt rank.

Rules and Conduct in the Do Jang

  1. Arrive 15 minutes before your class to warm up; do not use any equipment.
  2. After warm ups sit proper and quietly until your class begins.
  3. Forgetting part of your uniform or being late for class requires push-ups.
  4. Bow to flags before entering and leaving Do Jang.
  5. Address all black belt instructors as “Mr.”, “Mrs.”, or “Sir”, “Ma’am”
  6. Exchange greetings and bowing between students and respect all higher-ranking belts.
  7. Keep uniform clean and wrinkle free at all times with School patch on front and Tae Kwon Do patch on left sleeve. Pants that are too long should be hymned to prevent a fall in class.
  8. Traditional uniforms with patches required for testing; no t-shirts or black uniforms.
  9. Use restrooms before and after class, NOT during.
  10. Refrain from chewing gum and from wearing any jewelry in Do Jang.
  11. Refrain from going outside, children should stay in workout area until parent arrives.
  12. Parents and guests please DO NOT disrupt classes with loud talking or laugher. We have two viewing areas one for talking and one inside the Dojang for observing only.
  13. Never interrupt the instructors while working with other students.
  14. Avoid wearing shoes in the workout area. Place personal property in provided areas.
  15. Always bring all sparring gear to EVERY class.
  16. Clean sparring gear, you will not be allowed to spar with smelly gear.
  17. Please groom finger and toe nails so that you will not injure other students.
  18. Memorize The Five Tenants of Tae Kwon Do and the Student Creed.

White Belt Form #1 4 Directional Down Block Right Side

  1. Start with right arm out and left arm beside of right ear. Tightly closed fists.
  2. Step back with right leg executing a left low block. Step forward right leg and punch with right hand.
  3. Bring left hand to right ear and pivot to the left at the same time while keeping right arm out. Repeat number two, three more times; you will finish facing front in a low block position, remember to ki hop (yell).

White Belt Form #2 4 Directional Forearm Block Left Side

  1. Start with left arm out and right arm at left hip. Tightly closed fists.
  2. Step back with left leg executing a right inner forearm block with right hand while in a L-stance. Step forward left leg and punch with left hand.
  3. Bring right hand to left hip and pivot to the right at the same time while keeping left arm out. Repeat number two, three more times; you will finish facing front in an inner forearm block position, remember to ki hop (yell).

Block and Strike Techniques

#1 –Start with right arm out and left hand beside of right ear. Step back with right leg to forward stance. Execute a left hand low block – front kick with right leg (back leg). Ki hop (yell) on both techniques.

#2 – Start with left arm out and right hand at left hip. Step back with left leg to L- Stance. Execute a right hand inner forearm block without moving your feet, punch with the right hand (keep left hand up for guard). Ki hop (yell) on both techniques.

Combinations

All combinations should be able to be performed from both sides

  1. Right leg front kick. Left hand reverses punch. Left leg front kick. Land in guard.
  2. Right leg side kick. Right hand back fist strike to face. Left leg side kick. Land in guard.
  3. Right leg front kick. Left leg side kick. Right leg back kick. Land in guard.
  4. Right leg round kick. Left hand reverses punch. Left leg round kick. Land in guard.
  5. Right leg round kick to the body. Left spinning hook kick to the head. Set leg down in front. Right reverse punch to the body.
  6. Right sliding side kick to the body(cut kick). Left spinning hook kick to the head. Right round kick to the body. Left reverse punch to the body.
  7. (Not Required) Left reverse ridge hand to the head. Right front hand punch to the body. Left reverse punch to the body. Right ridge hand to the head/ left knife hand block. Left hand uppercut. Left ax kick to head.

One Step Sparring

  1. Step forward right leg to inside of punch. Knife hand block to the arm and at the same time do a right punch to the face.
  2. Step back with right leg into a sprinters stance, lean the upper body to the left, punch with right hand to the lower ribs. Left hand block outside of attackers punch.
  3. Right front kick to the body, step down to a forward stance and repeat #1.
  4. Step to the inside of the punch with right foot. Left knife hand block to the arm, at the same time do a right knife hand strike to the right side of the neck then right knife hand strike to opposite side of neck while grabbing and pulling arm.
  5. Step back to the outside of the punch with the right leg. Left leg side kick to the rib. After setting foot down right hand punch to the ribs. Keep left hand up for protection.
  6. Step forward and to the inside of the punch with the right leg. Right outer forearm block to inside of arm, right backfist to head, slide in and right elbow to ribcage.
  7. Step to the outside of the punch with the left leg in a riding stance 45 degrees, at the same time left palm block to the outside of the arm. Right punch to the ribs then left punch to ribs.
  8. Left front kick to the body, right round kick to the head.
  9. Right sidekick to the body, then left back kick to body.
  10. Left foot circle block, right low press sidekick then two right sidekicks to head.
  11. Left foot crescent block, then a left foot sidekick to the mid-section without putting your foot down.
  12. Left foot crescent block and step over to left right foot hook kick to head.
  13. Step to the outside of the punch into a riding stance. Left palm block to the outside of the arm, right punch to the ribs, slide the right foot to the left foot. At the same time punch to the head with the left hand. Grab the right arm and round kick to the solar plexus with ball of foot.
  14. Left foot circle block, right foot front kick to body. Right foot high roundkick,and right foot high sidekick to head. Last 3 kicks are done without putting your foot down.

* All punching for one-steps are to be done from right leg back down block position.

Clubs

Black Belt Club: A club for students that show that they are willing to do what it takes to reach black belt. They have a commitment to excellence and a persevering attitude. These dedicated students are allowed to wear black do bok’s and t-shirts during classes. They may attend special elite training classes to push them further. To qualify for the Demo Team, students must be Green Stripe Belt or higher and obtain instructor approval.

Demonstration Team: A team of students whose level of excellence is at a very high standard. The Demo Team travels around Monroe, North Carolina sharing with our community of the benefits of our Martial Arts. To qualify for the Demo Team, students must be Green Stripe Belt or higher and obtain instructor approval.

Full Split Club: Club of acknowledgement for students that are able to complete a full front and or side split.

STORM Team:Special Team OfRoll Models. This group of junior students are leaders for our school much like the SWAT Team that have displayed leadership qualities and go over and above the call to see others succeed. These students assist in additional classes and take leadership positions during classes.

SWAT Team:Special Winning Attitude Team. This group of adults are leaders for our school that have displayed leadership qualities and go over and above the call to see others succeed. These students assist in additional classes and take leadership positions during classes.
