SIT Meeting Notes

11-19-2015

Budget:

We reiterated the message from our last meeting.

We need to have meetings with our teams and make sure that we discuss using up all of the funds that are available by December. General supplies must come out of the general supply account. Title One funds must be spent for instructional materials and instructional purposes only. When we go back to our teams, we must discuss ideas of how we could spend our Title One funds that is tied to curriculum and instruction. If we need general supplies we must fill out a general supply form from the front office.

We can reference our RTI folder where we will find many resources that can be ordered using Title One funds because these resources deal with instruction. We will look to see if we can order the bulbs for the projectors and see where funds for these can be used. All members of our schools are encouraged to e-mail Dr. Aguilar if you need materials, and know that Dr. Aguilar will respond very soon to your requests.

EPAC:

Curriculum changes that are recommended by SISD educators need to be recommended to EPAC. Also, any campus issues discussed in our SIT meetings need to be brought up to our EPAC representative.

Car Show Scholarship:

Our Car Show Scholarship committee has been formed.

Daycare Update:

Our Daycare team will go to the high schools of our district and recruit more Moms. They will be given opportunities to work and get a degree in early child care. We need 30 kids to open the doors of our Daycare and all school members are encouraged to take advantage of our daycare facilities. We are willing to get the names of the parents that would benefit from our daycare and go to their homes to help them fill out the paperwork.

Obodo Update:

Meetings with agencies have taken place and we have asked them to come and help our students and not just present, but provide us with the service of field trips. We will try to get the students to link with the agencies so that the students will begin a working partnership for their future career.

Dr. Aguilar needs a type of survey done to see if the field trips have had an impact on the students’ career choices.

Safety:

The teachers are asking for the students to be escorted out of the classrooms like last year at the end of the day.

The TJJD bus needs to pick up kids on time and drop off the students at 8:15 am. We will begin with the new release on Monday the 30th of November.

Benefits:

Some of our people signed up for the health nurse’s program. The forms for these will be picked up. Participants need to log the information for their work-out routines.

Sierra Providence wants to make micro hospitals that can provide screenings. We need to beware to make sure that these are provided within our network. The new free standing emergency rooms may be part of the clinic near Montwood High School since it will be re-opened and maybe free for SISD employees.

New York life insurance is providing a new policy where you participate until you die and the price will not go up. Unlike other policies where the payments go up as the participant becomes older.

Random Pad Downs:

Random Pad Downs during the day was recommended, at the KEYS side, to make sure students know to not sneak anything into our campus in areas of the body that are not searched in the morning.

Safety:

We need to see security in the hallwaysmore often and teachers need to be more visible during student transitions.

Christmas party:

We will have our Christmas party at the Great American restauranton the 5th of Dec. We will call it a Christmas dinner, and everyone can just arrive and order what they would like.
