The meeting of the Environmental Commission was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Richard Wolf, Chairman. The Opening Statement was made. Roll call was taken.

OLD BUSINESS
2013 Budget/Shade Tree Issues
The budget is still being review by Council. Our total budget could be $3,000.00. It was decided to move ahead in hiring the shade tree professional, John H. Anlian, Esq.,for advice on our future projects with an amount up to $1,000.00.
Jane DeWan will prepare a purchase order.
Brandywine Senior Living
George Esty responded to the applicant’s request for assistance in selecting deer resistant plants.
Sustainable Jersey Review
Defer discussion until later in the meeting.
SITE PLAN REVIEW
Auburn Data Systems, LLC Board of Adjustment Docket 1356-13
Plans show the proposed installation of two antennas on an existing tower and an equipment cabinet inside an existing shelter.
The site plans were accepted with comments:
“We recommend planting pines and Douglas firs around the base of the tower and around the shed.”
Commission members discussed the following terms: environmental integration, camouflage and stelfing – to conceal something.
TENANT APPLICATION
An application for change of ownership for Mahwah Nails, 109 Miller Road was approved. New owner is Sophia S. Hwang.
CORRESPONDENCE
Reviewed information and site maps submitted to NJ DEP by Algonquin Mahwah M & R station upgrade project.
NEW BUSINESS
Gregg Sgambati has volunteered to complete the grant application. (ANJEC Open Space Grants for Environmental Commission). Anyone who has an idea of a project, contact Gregg.
Dick Seibert submitted publications on Stormwater Management Practices and other topics. The secretary will make copies for all members.
No other new business, back to old business discussion of Sustainable Jersey Review.
Unable to access web site. Rich Wolf gave short explanation action steps and how to gain points.
George Esty wants the Environmental Commission to issue press releases on activities and projects. We need to publicize tree planting and Sustainable Jersey. Dan Weixeldorfer mentioned the Mahwah Patch as a useful tool.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m. The next meeting of the Environmental Commission will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 7: 30 p.m. at the MunicipalBuilding, 475 Corporate Drive, Mahwah, N.J.
