We are partnering with Studio East to put on another fabulous spring production with our talented 4th and 5th grade students. This year's show is "We're having a Ball" - a 50's themed musical production of Cinderella. Per Studio East "The story is told from the perspective of the mice, and this 50’s Rock and Roll Cinderella story is great fun for everyone. Crazy characters include a Prince who is too shy to choose a new “dance Partner”, a King who thinks he’s Elvis, An over the top Wedding Planner, a Fairy Godmother named Miss Devine Fabulous who comes complete with a swinging backup group…and 2 Cinderellas! The Narrator is the Big Cheese and thinks he is a standup comic, the mice family are all named for their favorite cheese and everyone is heading for the Happy Fun Palace Shindig. Definitely not Disney!"

Bobbi Bakony and Amy Neumann are first time PTSA Volunteer Producers. The Studio East Director isRebekah Dawn, along with Musical DirectorJulia Thornton. In addition to these individuals, the play is hugely dependent upon parent and student involvement; 50 enthusiastic students are needed to make this production come to life. No experience required; all 4th/5th grade students are welcome to audition and participate. As they say "in the biz": "no part is too small"….Every student that auditions, will be cast in the production. Please note that students are EXPECTED to attendat least2 rehearsals per week

AMANDATORYinformationalPARENT MEETINGis scheduled for Tuesday, April 15th at 7pm in the Commons. If your student plans to participate in the play, it is imperative that one parent attend. Studio East representatives will be present to go over many important details of the process, and MANDATORY volunteer job signups will take place.

Students are placed into rehearsal groups based on their part and their availability. Some may need to be at rehearsal each day; others may not. It is also necessary that every parent with a student in the play have a current LWSD Volunteer Form on file.We will have forms available at the meeting. If you do not have one on file, you can print one here:http://www.lwsd.org/SiteCollectionDocuments/For-The-Community/Volunteer-Application-Packet.pdf Please note it takesseveral days for these forms to be processed by LWSD.

Every parent will be expected to take on -1- Volunteer Committee position and commit to chaperoning at least -1- rehearsal (this involves signing students in and out of rehearsal, assisting Directors as needed, & monitoring students present). Please note that chaperones should not bring siblings to the rehearsals, with the exception of the Volunteer Producers, who will be handling other duties.

Every student that participates will need to sign a "Production Contract" stipulating that he/she will abide by the rules/guidelines set forth by Studio East and the PTSA Volunteer Producers. This contact will be strictly enforced, to insure a safe, fun, positive, and rewarding experience for all those involved.

Questions? We plan to answer all of these at theParent Informational Meeting on April 15th! We look forward to seeing you all there; and look forward to making this production of "We're Having a Ball" a huge success!
