THE CHURCH IS BORN

We can say that the Church was born on the Day of

Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came. The Church is

literally a union of Jesus and all those who have

decided to follow him. The purpose of the Church

is to share the Good News of God’s love and

salvation with all people. As a result the Church

grew, and grew, and grew! Has the purpose of the

Church changed? Or do we sometimes get

distracted from it’s purpose?

WELCOME TO WORSHIP

We are always happy to have visitors with us in Cregagh; and we welcome any who may be worshipping with us today. We would invite our visitors to sign the Visitor’s Book in the Vestibule, giving full name and postal address.

** The following may help our visitors to share in the service:

** The Processional and Recessional hymns are not announced – the numbers are on the hymn boards (those marked ‘Hy’, ‘Ps’ and ‘Par’ are in the red Irish Presbyterian Church Books, and those marked ‘G’ are in the Glory to God Books) – both books are in the pews.

** Please stand as the service begins when the Bible, Choir and Minister enter.

** The Offering is after the Sermon and is not announced.

** Please stand as the collectors bring the Offering to the Sanctuary for dedication, and remain standing until after the Recessional hymn and the Bible is carried from church.

CHRISTIAN ONE LINERS

Some people are kind, polite, and sweet spirited – until you try to sit in their pews.

Many folks want to serve God, but only as advisors.

People are funny: they want the front of the bus, the middle of the road, and back of the church.

Quit griping about your church: If it was perfect, you couldn’t belong.

We’re called to be witnesses, not lawyers or judges.

Some minds are like concrete – thoroughly mixed up and permanently set.

I don’t know why some people change churches: What difference does it make which one you stay home from?

A lot of church members singing “Standing on the Promises” are just sitting on the premises.

Coincidence is when God chooses to remain anonymous.

Forbidden fruits create many jams.

God loves everyone, but probably prefers ‘fruits of the spirit’ over ‘religious nuts’

God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.

Prayer: Don’t give God instructions, just report for duty.

The task ahead of us is never as great as the Power behind us.

The Will of God never takes you to where the Grace of God will not protect you.

We don’t change the message, the message changes us.

You can tell how big a person is by what it takes to discourage him.

Opportunity may knock once, but temptation bangs on the front door forever.

God himself doesn’t propose to judge a man until he is dead – so why should you?

Peace starts with a smile.

Be ye fishers of men. You catch them – He’ll clean them.

God doesn’t call the qualified – he qualifies the called.

The good Lord didn’t create anything without a purpose – but mosquitoes come close.

The best mathematical equation I have ever seen: 1 cross + 3 nails = 4 given.

Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass – it’s about learning to dance in the rain.
