We at RED C are looking to increase our panel of interviewers conducting door to door interviews and thought it might be of interest to some of your members as we have a number of retired Garda currently on our panel.

I have given you a short synopsis of what the job entails and would be delighted if you could advise your members of our requirements

»The job of a Market Research Interviewer involves conducting interviews door to door with members of the public.Ie Cold Calling.

»You will not be supplied with lists of names of people to contact but you will be given a specific location in which to conduct the interviews. This area would generally be within a 5-10 mile radius of where you live (within Dublin) or a 20-30 mile radius (Country areas).

»The interviews are generally 20-25 minutes in length and usually an assignment would require 8 interviews being conducted with a mixture of men and women of specific ages and specific social classes.

(It is not a case that you can knock on 8 doors and take an interview with whomever answers.)

»All work would be pre-allocated to you over the phone by a member of our Field Team, so no work will arrive in the post that you are not expecting.

»A deadline date for when work is to be completed by will be stated on your field instructions and this must be strictly adhered to. Work completed outside the fieldwork dates may not be accepted.

»An interviewer day is classed as a 6 hour day in which you are expected to achieve your quota of interviews (usually 8) in your specific area and reaching the quota’s of sex/age and social class which are set.

»The payment for an interviewer day can vary on the quota set with an hourly rate of €10+ being paid, plus mileage of 48c per mile after the first 10 miles are deducted.

»You would be conducting your initial interviews on paper questionnaires with progression onto our CAPI (Computer Assisted Personal Interview) system expected after a few months and dependent upon your availability.

»A car is not essential for those living in cities but is necessary for those living in country areas.

»To ascertain whether this is the job for you we send out a set of 4 trial interviews to be conducted in an unfamiliar local area. This will give you a taste of what the job entails and whether this type of work is for you or not.

»This is a part time job, (but there will be occasions when you feel it is a full time job!). However, we cannot promise you will have work every week.

»Tax and PRSI contributions will be deducted at source and paid to Revenue on your behalf. Payment will be made directly into your bank account, and a detailed payslip will be issued to you. Holiday pay of 8% will also be paid on each Assignment that you successfully complete.
