Dear Parents,
We are learning about the Constitution this week. The second grade will be helping the other grades learn about the Constitution by performing a song and giving facts in the Friday assembly this week. We will be working on a song from School House Rocks. If you have access to the internet you can help your child practice the song by going to YouTube and typing in School House Rocks Constitution!
Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 19th is fall picture day! If you would like to purchase pictures please order online at lifetouch.com or send the order form that was sent home last week.
On Friday, September 29th we will be performing a Johnny Appleseed play for the parents at 1:45! I am sending home lines for your child today! Please help your child memorize their lines! I know they will all do such a great job! We will also be having an apple tasting after our program. I am asking for parents to bring or send something to do with apples (ex: apple pie, apple fritters, apple jacks, apple butter, apple juice, apple cider, apple sauce, etc.). Anything you can think of will be a nice treat! I have a student who is allergic to all nut products. Please be considerate of that when bringing items for our class to share. We hope you can come and celebrate Johnny Appleseed’s birthday with usJ I am asking that each student bring an apple by Monday, September 25th so we can graph colors of apples and which ones we like best!
I do accept redos on all daily work. If your child makes below a 70 on any daily work, excluding tests, they may redo it within a week and turn it back in. This is the child’s responsibility and I will not ask for it. I do reteach so your child has multiple opportunities to bring up their grade. Progress reports are coming home today. Please sign and return these tomorrow.
This week in math we will be starting Unit 3 (Numbers to 1200). I will be sending home a “homework” packet when we begin Unit 3. This is a packet for your child to practice with at home. It does NOT need to be turned in to me. This will help you see if your child is struggling on any of the topics in this unit.
If you have not done so, please send the $10 for your child’s class shirt to me by tomorrow, September 19th. I will be placing the shirt order on Tuesday. We will wear these shirts for all class field trips and Field Day!
