Dear Parents/Carers
We are delighted to announce the details of our year 9 and 10 educational trip to Barcelona.
The trip will take place from Monday 16th July 2018 – Friday 20th July 2018.
We are planning to stay just outside of Barcelona in the small town of Comarruga. The activities and excursions will include the following:-
- The SagradaFamilia Cathedral
- Camp Nou and Museum of Football
- The Miró museum
- Montserrat Monastery (via cable car)
- PortAventura theme park
This school trip will provide your child with inspiration and experiences that will stay with them for life. We have worked hard to ensure that this trip is as cost efficient as possible and the anticipated cost is expected to be as follows:-
£525 based on a party of 30 students.
The price includes all travel (flights and coach travel in Spain and the UK), accommodation in a hotel, breakfast and evening meals, insurance and entry fees. We request that students bring an extra 15€ (5€ per day) to purchase their lunch in local markets and cafés. The cost of the flights can currently only be given as an estimate until flights for the required dates are released. Children may additionally require a modest amount of personal spending money.

A non-refundable deposit of £50 is due by Friday 6th October 2017 followed by installments as suggested. Should you wish to pay differently, for example more now and less later on, clearly this is acceptable. However it should be noted that the deadlines for cumulative payments must be adhered to so that we are able to pay the travel company on schedule and according to our contract with them. If we do not meet these payment deadlines the viability of the trip will be jeopardized and we risk monies paid being lost.
The £100 payment by Friday 10th November is required to cover the cost of your child’s flight. Without this payment your child will not be guaranteed a place on the trip.
If your child does not yet have a passport or their passport needs renewing, it is vital that an application is sent as soon as possible as we will be required to input passport details prior to flying.
It is essential that parents understand the financial commitment required in order to fund this trip. We would ask that you do not sign your child up for the trip if there is any doubt whatsoever about being able to meet the payment schedule and paying the £525 in full.
As places are limited there is no guarantee that your child will be allocated a place if the reply slip is returned after Friday 29th September 2017. We will be working on a first come, first served basis should the trip be oversubscribed.
We are taking account of behaviour in school and reserve the right notto take any pupils whose conduct might compromise health and safety.
Unfortunately there is insufficient money available for this activity to be funded by the school and all places must be paid for in full by parents. If there are an insufficient number of pupils subscribing to the trip, the visit will obviously not take place.
Please note: If a pupil is unable to take part in the trip after further monies have been paid the school will endeavor to recoup costs on the pupil’s behalf. However in the majority of cases this is not possible owing to group booking terms and conditions and cancellation fees, unless we are able to find another pupil to take his/her place.
The aim of this trip is to give your child firsthand experience of Spain, its culture, its history and its language, and it will be educational in the widest sense.
If your child would like to participate in the trip please complete the reply slip and return it to school services by Friday 29th September 2017.
