Widnes Market

We are always looking for new unique businesses to support the offer at Widnes Market.

We have stalls to let both within the Market Hall and on the ‘award winning’ open market and in both cases applications should be made to the market office using the application form contained in this booklet. Please provide as much detail as possible about the products that you intend to sell or the services you wish to offer to aid our decision making process.

Market Hall

The Market Hall consists of 184 stalls.

Opening Hours

Opening Hoursou
Monday / 9 am – 5pm
Tuesday / Closed
Wednesday / 9 am – 5pm
Thursday / 9 am – 5pm
Friday / 9 am – 5pm
Saturday / 9 am – 5pm
Sunday / Closed

The Market Hall is open on Good Friday but closed on Bank Holiday Mondays.

Decision Making and Prices

Applications for indoor stalls are considered approximately every six weeks, when a panel of representatives with an interest in the market meet to discuss applications and come to a decision about whether or not they should be successful. Where an application is successful we will arrange for the applicant to come and meet the market team at a mutually convenient time who will provide you with prices of stalls and run through the rules and procedures for renting them.

All successful tenants will be required to sign a Tenancy at Will for their stall, agree to a schedule of prices for the stall (including rents, electricity charges, promotions fee and VAT), provide original copies of the various pieces of identification highlighted in these forms and pay a deposit equivalent to one month’s rent. Stall rent is based on the square footage and frontage of each stall.

Open Market

Widnes Open Market was voted the Best Small Outdoor Market at the NABMA Awards 2014.

Opening Hours

The Open Market takes place on a Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday between the hours of 9am and 3pm.

Decision Making

Decisions can be made in relation to applications for stalls on the open market by the markets team.

You should expect a phone call from the markets team to advise you of the decision within a week of receipt of your completed form. If your application is successful the markets team will be able to give you a stall number for your first trading day as soon as you have provided them with the identification set out in the application form or made arrangements to bring these on your first trading day. Stall allocations will be based on the commodities that you are proposing to sell. There will be some flexibility on this and you should speak with a member of the markets team should you have any particular preferences.

To avoid disappointment it is recommended that casual traders should telephone the Market Office to book a stall on the Open Market before 4pm on the day prior to trading.

Flea Market Traders

Over ever popular flea market takes place every Wednesday at the Open Market for the sale of second hand goods along with antique, vintage and collectable items. Traders are not permitted to sell any new items.

Flea market traders are advised to arrive at the open market at 6am and queue for a stall to be allocated to them.

We advise all flea market traders to bring some form of portable tabling to display their goods on in the event that the fixed tables at the Market have already been allocated.
