Description:

Each year, the ACA’s Board of Directors accepts nominations for a series of national awards that recognize individuals, clubs and organizations for a wide range of paddlesport accomplishments:

·  Legends of Paddling

·  Excellence in Instruction

·  Sanctioned Event of the Year

·  Green Paddle for Waterway Conservation

·  Joe Pina Volunteer of the Year

·  Stoke of Achievement

·  J. Henry Rushton

The award recipients are honored each year at the ACA Annual Banquet which takes place this year in conjunction with the ACA National Paddlesports Conference.

Nomination Process:

·  Ensure the nominee meets the Nominee Requirements

·  Complete the Nomination Form (page 3)

·  Submit the Nomination Form by Monday, September 11, 2017

·  The winner of each award will be notified 1 month prior to the ACA Annual Banquet

Nominee Requirements:

·  The nominee must be a resident or organization located within the United States or its territories, or the nominee must be an ACA member in good standing from another country

·  All nominees must exhibit sound ethics and be of good moral character

Nomination Summary Guidelines:

·  The Nomination Summary cannot exceed 2 pages

·  Clearly and concisely summarize why the nominee should be considered for the appropriate award

·  Additional supporting documentation, if applicable, will be accepted

(newspaper articles, press releases, photographs, web links, letters of support, etc)

ACA’s National Awards:

·  Legends of Paddling

Presented to one or more individuals each year for their legendary contributions topaddlesport. Recipients of this prestigious award will be inducted into the ACA Paddlesport Hall of Fame.

·  Excellence in Instruction

The prestigiousExcellence in Instruction Award is presented to an ACA member for his or her outstanding contribution to paddlesports instruction.

·  Sanctioned Event of the Year

Presented to the top ACA sanctioned event as nominated by the paddling public.

·  Green Paddle for Waterway Conservation

Presented annually to an individual or a group that has made an outstanding contribution to paddlesport by protecting America's waterways.

·  Joe Pina Volunteer of the Year

Presented to one or morevolunteers each year forextraordinary service at the local or Divisional level.

·  Stoke of Achievement

Presented toone or moreACA Affiliated Clubs each year for superior performance and program development.

·  J. Henry Rushton

Presented annually to an organization or other group for outstanding achievements in advancing paddlesport and the mission of the ACA.
