Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview and asked to give a ten minute presentation on the ‘issues and challenges in the prevention of early school leaving’

Personal specification
Knowledge, experience and qualifications
Essential:
  • A recognised third level qualification in any of the following:Youth/Community/Education/social sciences/Early years or related discipline
  • A thorough understanding of the risk and protective factors associated with educational attainment and early school leaving as well as strategies to prevent early school leaving.
  • Proficient at planning, implementing and evaluating programmes
  • Experience of working collaboratively with agencies
  • Proficient IT skills, report writing, data collection
  • Clear understanding of working effectively with marginalised or vulnerable groups of people.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately to children across the target group age range.
  • Communication and facilitation skills/group work
  • The ability to plan and deliver educational/developmental/recreational programmes to individuals and groups.
  • A full, clean driving license and use of car.
/ Desirable:
  • Two year’s paid relevant work experience
  • Experience in delivering evidence based and evidence informed programmes
  • Skills and talents which potentially can be brought to the role which will enhance the work e.g. Art, Music, Sports, IT
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge of the education system and the factors associated with early school leaving and disengagement
  • Qualification in facilitation/group work and/or teaching
