Career Exploration Voki

Objective: Summarize the job duties, work conditions, training requirements, earning level, and job outlook for the career that you have chosen.

Process:

1. Select one of the three careers that you have just researched. You will want to choose the career that you are most interested in pursuing in the future.

The career I have chosen is ______.

2. You will need to prepare a script, summarizing the information about the career you have chosen. Pretend that you are going to be giving a speech or presentation over this career. You will need to write out what you would say (you can write it out on the back of this paper). Remember to include in your script job duties, work conditions, training requirements, earning level, and job outlook. Also, include in your script why you have chosen this career, what are you most interested in for this job and why?

3. After you have your script prepared you are ready to create your avatar. This is an online character that will give your presentation for you; all you have to do is tell it what to say.

a. Go to http://voki.com/

b. The log in boxes are in the top right. Use the following information for log in.

c. You will click on the “Create a New Voki” button to begin creating your character.

d. You will start by customizing your character. You can select any character you wish. Once you are pleased with your character click the green “Done” button near the bottom of the screen.

e. Next you are ready to give your character a voice. To do this, click on the button that shows a keyboard key with a “T” on it. This will bring up a box where you can type in your script. Below the text box you can select the voice that you would like. Keep the language on English.

*Make sure you play back and listen to your voki before you hit the green “Done” button. You can continue to make changes if you do not like the way it sounds, or need to make corrections.

*You will be limited on words so you will need to SUMMARIZE and include only the important information.

f. Now you can select a background for your character.

g. Make sure that you check your final character creation with the scoring guide on the back of this page- you want to make sure that you have touched upon the important information.

h. After you have everything how you want it. You may hit the “Publish” button. When you do that a screen pops up asking you to title your creation. You will title your voki with YOUR NAME.

i. Once it is saved you may log out you are finished!

j. We will share everyone’s voki with the class. GREAT JOB J
