WANDSWORTH PEACE MEMORIAL FUND

GUIDELINES

AIMS: To provide assistance towards holidays for needy children up to and including 16 years of age who are residents of the London Borough of Wandsworth.

  1. Applications for children less than 4 years of age are likely to be refused.
  1. Priority will be given to holidays of more than 7 days duration and applications for day trips and weekend trips may be refused.
  1. Priority will be given to holidays arranged by Social Services, Schools, Scout and Guide Groups and other Youth Organisations. For group/school trips, it is very important that a covering letter including details of the destination, costs, clothing requirements, etc. is submitted with the application forms. (Note: A copy of the letter sent to parents would be ideal).
  2. Applications for family holidays should detail the cost for the child only and not the cost for the parent(s)/guardian or adult supervisor.
  3. Cheques will only be made payable to recognised organisations and not individuals. (In this respect, it is important that the organisation is aware of and supports your application and is able to process the cheque).
  4. Holidays should be generally within the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, although in some circumstances, holidays abroad will be considered.
  5. Application forms should be completed correctly and as clearly as possible IN BLACK INK/BIRO and particular attention should be given to the details relevant to the family’s circumstances. This part of the form should not be left blank. Alternatively, a short covering letter written by a Social Worker, Health Visitor, etc. can be attached to the application.
  6. Any money that is granted and not required by the applicant for the holiday should be returned to the Treasurer of the Fund.
  7. The date, location and costs of the holiday MUST be given on the application form, even if the exact details have not yet been finalised.
  8. Following a successful application, the Trustees of the Fund would appreciate some evidence that the money has been used for holiday purposes.
  9. It is essential that financial details are provided to enable the Trustees to consider an application and some indication of the family’s income and expenditure must be provided on the application form.
  10. The Trustees meet to consider applications just prior to the Schools’ Easter and Summer holiday periods.
