Mystics like St. Francis and Hildegard of the 12th century recognized the sacredness of creation and our kinship with it. St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas spoke of creation revealing God. Science today tells us of an unfolding story of creation and affirms our interconnectedness with all. This evokes awe, amazement at the mystery of our God and of creation’s evolving process. Through presentations and dvd we will hear leading voices like the Mystics, Fr. Thomas Berry, Sr. Miriam McGillis, Dr. Brian Swimme, and others who will assist us in integrating this new worldview into our own Spiritual journey. All sessions include discussion, music and refreshments.
February 3rd: We will explore our Christian tradition and what our Mystics revealed about creation, and how we lost that connection. Brian Swimme, in a dvd clip will share what science has discovered about our Universe that affirms what the Mystics said.
February 10th: Fr Thomas Berry in dvd “The Great Story” builds on the work of Teilhard de Chardin in expanding the sacredness of Creation. “Earth is a communion of subjects, not a collection of objects”
February 17th: Science has discovered three basic principles or values that the Universe operates on, and they amazingly echo the qualities of the Trinity of our God. It is calling us to a new worldview. Dvd: Humanity Ascending: a New Way Through Together
February 24th: How does all this affect my spiritual journey of walking with our God? Will it deepen, broaden or affirm my spirituality? Reflections from several sources e.g. Sr. Elizabeth Johnson, Fr. Jim Conlon, Rev Sallie McFague, etc
