W.E.R.K Camps & Fitness
“WERK” is pleased to announce that we will be having our annual summer camps. We have split our camps into 3 age brackets to help both the campers and staff. This year our camps will be focused on the history behind the music that our children are listening to.
Students will learn the history behind Jazz, R&B, Hip-Hop, Rap, Gospel as well as they will learn about the various local artist who have path the way for us as Bermudians. We will also have a special segment focused on the Bermudian artist such as Mrs. S. Caisey who was an amazing local jazz singer whom has passed away.
Students will have fun reenacting various groups from the past and present, taking part in lip singing, and this goes on and on… We have a list of surprises lined up for both the camps and students. I beg you, please do not register your child due to the price… we are looking for students who have an interest in performance.
The Camp begins June 28, 2017. The trial period will run from June 28- July 14, 2017. On Saturday July 15, 2017 we will have our open house and official registration for the summer program. At that time parents will have the opportunity to find out what we have planned for the summer academically and performance wise. Over 2 week the trial period, we will assess the children and create an academic plan specifically for their needs. Should we have any concerns, we will set up a meeting to discuss an individual tutorial program for those students who need it.
Selected students will have the opportunity to participate in the “WERK” Community Fitness program. We will be offering FREE dance and toning exercise classes on Wednesdays to the community. Aside from our camps, we also offer a dance cardio and toning for all….
Transportation
There will be a minibus at the ferry Terminal in Hamilton for morning pick-up and afternoon drop off. The mini bus will leave promptly at 8:45am and return at 5:45pm. Should you require minibus services, please let us know upon registration.

“Little Rock Star’s Kids Camp
Dates: Wednesday June 28, 2017 – Friday September 8, 2017
Hours of Operation: 7:30am – 6pm
Fees: $125 per week. Discount given to camper who attend camp for 7 or more weeks. Discounted Fee: $100 per week. (Ask about our sibling rate)
Location: PCC hall – optional pick-up and drop off available at the ferry Terminal in Hamilton.
Activities: Zumba Kids, arts and craft, music, choir, dance, drama, sign language, jump rope and gardening
Education: Each student will be assessed and an individual lesson plan will be created according to their academic needs in preparation for the upcoming school year. We also offer assistance with speech for those students who have various speech impediments. Our goal is to make sure all our students are prepared for the upcoming school year.
Hot lunch: Hot lunch will start after the 2 week trial period.
Each student will have the opportunity in contributing to our master Production which will be held towards the end of summer. We will have a mini production the week before cup match which will be used to build up the anticipation for our end of camp production.
Our staff is CPR and STARS certified and have gone through intense training sessions to prepare them for camp.

Each student will need black bottoms and sneakers for our performances.
Rock the Mic Kids Camp
WERK is pleased to present, “Rock the Mic Kids Camp”. Students will have the opportunity to learn the history behind the music they listen to. We have put together a calibration of past and present performers who have made a mark in the music world. Students will have fun taking part in lip singing competitions, glow performance, WERK kids fitness, kids comedy show, and have the opportunity to be crowned King or Queen of the MIC!!! You wouldn’t want to miss out on events such as our family fun day/ sports day and most of all our ROCK THE MIC COMPETITION!!!! But in order to get up on stage, you MUST be passing your classes. Education is the key to success, therefore students will take part in fun Math and English age appropriate lessons. We offer a mandatory 2 week probationary period for parents, students and staff to make sure their placement IS a good fit before committing to the entire 11 week program.
Registration: May 20th - June 20th, 2017 Registration Fee: $50
Camp dates: June 28– September 8th, 2017 Hours: 7:30am –6pm
Camp fee: $125 per week BUT if you commit to 8 or more weeks, you will get the discounted rate of $100 per week.
Probationary period: The probationary period ends July 14, 2017 followed by an introductory performance which will be held July 15th, 2017 at 5pm. At that time, parents will get the opportunity to meet the staff, hear about all the exciting activities we have planned for our campers, review their child’s educational recommendation pack, get feedback from the campers as well as get a sneak peak of what to expect with our performances as camp goes on. At that time, parents will also have the opportunity to decide if they choose to continue with the program or not. During the 2 week probationary period, we will not be taking any field trips nor will daily hot-lunch be served. Should you choose to continue with the program, your child will become an official Rock Star Camper. You will then receive the official 2017 camp schedule, meal plan, individual educational plan, and performance schedule. Students will also receive a camp t-shirt which must be worn every Friday. Students who participate in WERK fitness program will be given a fitness shirt which they must wear on Wednesdays for our FREE community dance and tone fitness program.

Week 1: June 28-July 1, 2017
June 28- First day of Camp. Camp fees of $75 is due. This week will be our bonding / introduction week. Students will learn a fun song/ dance as well as design a camp banner.
June 30- Kids praise club will begin. This program will run every Friday from 6-9pm. This program is an additional $10 which includes dinner. Campers will work on various songs and dances for our church ministry program. Some will also be given the opportunity to work on sermonettes with our youth minister.
July 1 – Beach & Dance Fitness begins. Beach fitness will be held at Warwick long bay from 8am – 9am. We have created a fun dance program used for the best cardio/ toning workout. Dance fitness is from 1-2….be prepared to sweat!!!
Week 2: July 3-8, 2017
June 3- Weekly agenda’s will be emailed/ handed out. Community service schedules will also be made available for all middle and high school campers who choose to gain their community service hours at camp. Academic assessments will also begin today for all primary and preschool campers.
July 4- Registration for the WERK kids dance fitness will begin. Students have the opportunity to try the program out before committing.
July 7- SHOW STOPPERS!!! We will have a friendly lip singing performance by our campers. 6-9pm – Kids praise club.
July 3-7 – Dance and toning fitness classes will be available for all… family members, parents, friends and anyone in the community. This week classes will be offered from 5:30- 6:30pm at the rate of $10 which includes a small water and small popcorn. Larger sizes are available for sale.
July 8 – Beach fitness – 8-9am and Dance fitness from 1-2pm.
Week 3: July 10-15, 2017
We will continue with our assessments as well as finalizing reports for parents on our academic recommendations. Students will also continue working towards their mini performance for the open house.
July 14 – We will have a $10 pizza party. This will be a party closing out the end of the probationary period and preparing for “WERK”. For $10 students will get 2 slices of pizza and a salad, drink, and a piece of cake. Additional slices of pizza are available upon request at an additional cost. Kids praise club will polish up their song and dance… as well as we will have 2 speakers who will speak at our open house.
July 15- Beach fitness 8-9am. Dance fitness 1-2. All campers must report to camp at 3pm to prepare for the open house. The open house will start at 5:30 sharp… not Bermuda time.
Week 4: July 17-22, 2017….. WELCOME TO WERK!!!
This week we will prepare for the first show. Teens will also have the opportunity to register for the DJ intern program in preparation for the teen dances, shows and DJ competition.
July 17 – Camp schedule and meal plan will go out.
July 19 – FREE COMMUNITY WERK DANCE FITNESS AND TONING SESSION.
The rest of the program will be given out July 17, 2017

The only thing parents will need to purchase for the performances will be black shorts/joggers/ leggings/ capri and a black shoe.
Students will not be permitted to wear flip-flops unless we are going to the beach.
We also have a list of field/ trips planned… some may involve a small performance for the community.
Once your child become an official “WERK” camper… you will be added to the group whats app chat group. Videos will be uploaded on our facebook page daily.
Campers and parents have the opportunity to be a part of our music video. We will also have a special performance by an international recording artist who will speak to our students, spend the day as well as the campers will have the opportunity to be a part of their Original Bermudian music video….
Spaces are limited… Please do not wait to the last minute to register. Registration ends June 25, 2017 OR when we have reached our numbers. No one will be added into our camp AFTER July 10, 2017.

We will also have a camp floating counselor to provide additional assistance.
Every Monday commencing July 17, 2017 an Educational plan will go home for parents to review and sign off on. At that time parents will also have the opportunity to make additional suggestions or voice their concerns.
Students will also take part in a fun Debate which will be featured in our closing show as well as it will be broadcasted live. Debates take place on Thursdays. We will also have fun spelling-B’s and Math-a-thon’s.
Staff and Management of WERK have taken the time to prepare a program for all to enjoy. We can promise you that our camp will meet your expectations… and then some. Try our 2 week probationary camp and I can promise you that you will be pleased with your decision.
