For driving instructions go to underwoodfamilyfarms.com and click on Moorpark driving instructions.

When to Arrive:

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your shift so you will have time to sign in, obtain your Lanyard/Badge, instructions, locate and be in your assigned area by the start time.

Where to Park and Meet Your Advisor After You Have Arrived:

Please park in the back area of the back/main parking lot. Ask the parking attendants where this is located when you drive in. No volunteers will be permitted to come through the front entrance near Sunset Valley Road. YOU MUST GO AROUND TO THE BACK/MAIN FESTIVAL ENTRANCE TENT.

After parking please meet your advisor near the AVendor Gate@ to the left of the rear Festival Entrance off the rear main Festival Parking Lot. There you will sign in and receive a Volunteer Lanyard w/ Badge which must remain around your neck until your shift is over and it is returned to the advisor. Lanyards and badges will be accounted for at the end of the day and then changed for the next day.

If you are being dropped off by a Parent or Ride: Please make sure they drop you off in the BACK Parking lot at the Vendor Gate off to the left side of the Festival Admissions Tent. This is also where you will need to be picked up from. No Parents or Volunteers will be permitted to come through the front entrance near the produce stand at the front of the Farm. Any parent or ride that comes to the front will be directed to go around to the back to pick up the volunteer.

Where Can I Put My Belongings?:

There will be a large plastic bin at the Build a Scarecrow, Grow a Head and paint a Pumpkin area where you can put your purses, backpacks and sweatshirts if they do not want to keep them on. There really is no place in the booths to keep these items. It is better to not bring them on the farm at all and you can leave your car keys in the plastic bin and your cell phone in the box marked cell phones (Cell phones are not allowed to be with you when you are working). If you leave your belongings in your car please place them in the trunk or somewhere inside the car where they cannot be seen. Underwood Family Farms is not responsible for any lost or stolen items while you are working.

THREE VERY IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER:

Your group will be receiving a donation from Underwood Family Farms for your volunteer time. Underwood Farms is committed to helping non-profit groups and are strongly committed to making sure the public has an enjoyable and peaceful day at the farm**. Customer service in a family friendly, fun and safe atmosphere is our primary concern. To that end we do have some strict rules for all persons representing the Underwood Farm and Festival.

1. While your group is volunteering we do expect you to follow the same rules all employees follow:

While you are in a booth at Underwood Farms there is a strict electronic device rule. ANO CELL PHONES OR ELECTRONIC DEVICES ARE ALLOWED ON YOUR PERSON WHILE YOU ARE WORKING. You can check them on your breaks and they will be kept in a central location under the protection of your advisor.

We have provided a walkie talkie in each area IN CASE OF EMERGENCY OR IF YOU ARE IN NEED OF HELP/ASSISTANCE@.

The Underwood’s Volunteer Team Leaders, Brandi and/or Amanda Gunnarson can be reached using the walkie talkie=s if necessary. The group advisor will receive an Electronic Device Policy Notification and Agreement for the entire group sign. This MUST BE SIGNED by everyone working for your group in order to work on the Farm.

2. You are there to help the paying customers enjoy their day at Underwood Family Farms= Fall Harvest Festival. So keep up the good work and continue to make sure you smile a lot as smiles are infectious, and remember some people are just grumpy.... Do not get into a confrontation with anyone. If you are unable to pleasantly resolve their issue, let them know politely that you will have your supervisor come and help them.

Then using the Walkie Talkie ask for Brandi or Amanda Gunnarson or Lori Gunnarson and we will come and handle the situation.

3. LAST BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY DRESS CODE. This is strictly enforced so please make sure your group is dressed appropriately.

Underwood Family Farms Dress Code:

During your time on the farm you are representing the Underwood Family Farms and your group, so we encourage you to wear something that represents your group or club if possible.

NO VISIBLE TATTOO=sIf your shirt does not cover it then please use a wrap or band-aid to cover it.

Some Tattoos are cute and some scare kids. We cannot discriminate, so thank you for your understanding.

Facial Piercing: Please use your judgment; if it would scare a child, any child, it is not appropriate for the festival. We do reserve the right to request a piercing be removed while a volunteer is working if necessary, but we hope we never need to and again, thank you for your understanding.

Capri=s, Pants or Long Leg Shorts are preferred and all shorts must meet school guideline and end at your fingertips. Pants must fit your waist, no slouchy pants! Remember you will be surrounded by itchy bales of hay that could and will irritate and scratch your skin, so shorts that don=t cover you to the knee are not appropriate. You need your legs covered.

Shirts/ Tops Basic Rules: No cleavage, no exposed abdominal areas, even when you raise your arms, and no undergarments are allowed to show (this includes bra straps). If you wear a tank top please make sure the straps are at least 1 inch wide and that we do not see your undergarment.

Closed toed shoes only!

No flip-flops, every year the hay on the ground goes right up underneath people=s toenails and need to be removed with tweezers. Can you say Ouch!?

Bottom Line:

This is a family event and we must represent the wholesome family imageof Underwood Family Farms. No short shorts (school dress code length or longer only.) No abdominal areas exposed, No undergarments showing, No cleavage.

If anyone in your group does not meet the dress code we have some really funky outfits available in the scarecrow booth that can be worn for their shift. These are usually saved for our scarecrows to wear, but they won’t mind if you borrow them.

The Fall Harvest Festival is a fun and relaxing place to be. Every weekend has a different theme and your group might want to wear something that goes with the theme. You can get all kinds of information about the fall harvest festival at underwoodfamilyfarms.com. Check it out!

** Only the number of persons assigned to a booth may be in the booth at all times. Please no siblings, friends or family are allowed to sit in or hang around a booth while the farm is open to the public as this detracts from the workers ability to provide the high level of friendly and attentive customer service we strive to provide the festivals attendee=s.
