Amref Health Africa is Africa’s leading health development organisation. We work to achieve better health for Africa. We are headquartered in Nairobi and have country programmes in countries that include Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Ethiopia.

Our London office in Angel supports Amref in Africa to achieve its strategic goals and has three departments:

•Fundraising and Communications

•Programmes

•Finance and Administration

Amref Health Africa’s Fundraising and Communications team exists to:

1) Raise income to support the work of Amref Health Africa in the UK and in Africa.

2) Raise the profile of Amref Health Africa in the UK as a uniquely African health NGO.

3) Work across the Amref Health Africa global structure to ensure that all opportunities are maximised and experiences shared, and in order to have greatest impact for the people in Africa we exist to serve.

Principal Function of this Trusts and Foundations Volunteer Role:

This two-month role will involve three days a week volunteering in our London office. You will:

  • Support efforts to establish new support for Amref Health Africa’s projects from charitable trusts and foundations.
  • Help in building our research base of prospective funders.
  • Help us in requesting funding and providing project information to donors.
  • You will gain knowledge of the third sector and of development.
  • You will acquire diverse skills, including those in writing style and research.
  • You will gain knowledge of database navigation/management.

Person Specification:

Experience/Qualifications/Education
Fundraising experience / Desirable
Experience of working with/volunteering for an NGO/charity / Desirable
An interest in, and commitment to, health development / Essential
Experience of using and maintaining a database / Desirable
A completed, or partially completed, undergraduate degree that includes a research element / Essential
This volunteer role will be perfect for someone who enjoys analysis and research / Essential

Good written and oral communication / Essential
