Context
Are you passionate about making a real difference?
As part of the global ActionAid family, we are helping to build a fair and just world where everyone can claim their rights. To achieve this we work with local people in more than 45 countries to fight hunger and disease, seek justice and education for women, hold companies and governments to account and help communities cope with emergencies.
ActionAid is a unique non-governmental organisation where each member country has a say in the governance and the direction of the organisation, regardless of where they’re located or how much money they bring to ActionAid. The International Secretariat provides support and coordination to the whole federation to support this process and the numerous campaigns and programmes that ActionAid works on every day. The Learning and Capacity Development team supports all other teams with Knowledge Management and Shared Learning, Planning and Reporting, Learning and Development, HRBA and many others. The L&CD teamprovides innovative ways of working and constantly strives to help build capacity through new and solid ways of communicating and sharing. The team also supports countries to develop their annual plans and annual reports.
We are a value driven, forward thinking organisation, focused on achieving long-term change through supporting our partners to make a sustainable difference.
Purpose of the volunteer roleThere are 2 parts to this role:
Each year all ActionAid countries conduct their annual reporting process. In 2015, the Directorate of Institutional Development (IDD) designed a new improved template for reporting, and the resulting information that has been provided by all the countries is a wealth of shared learning, statistics, country information and much more.
Much of this information is used by the various other directorates and teams, but there is a lot of hugely useful information that needs to be shared for the benefit of all, and this is achieved by sharing it on the Federation’s intranet.
We collate all of this useful data and present it in a way that can be easily accessed by the whole Federation. This forms a key part of shared learning activities taking place on the intranet.
The 2nd part of this role involves working with the audio interviews that have been recorded from sources all over the Federation (currently around HRBA practices and CRSA practices). In order to make the content of the audio interviews more accessible, the content needs to be listened to and transcribed as well as key points noted in order to look for synergies between interviewees and explore opportunities for content promotion
This volunteer role will provide support to the Intranet and Knowledge Manager in collating, organising, transcribing and editinginformation and adding it to the intranet.
