  1. Proposition of the Course:

It is designed to help students understand the world of mathematics around them. Algebra II covers a diverse range of ideas ranging from polynomials, matrices, factoring, systems of equations and inequalities, conic sections, logarithms, probability and the basics of trigonometry. Of all the mathematics, Algebra is one of the most highly used across all fields. This course will emphasize on real-world problems (utilizing tasks/ group projects) and understanding the world around us mathematically.

  1. Expectations of the Student

Each standard will have a test, with nine weeks tests given along with a final. There will also be scheduled quizzes, and additional quizzes given at the instructor’s discretion.

  1. Preparation and Participation

Each student is required to be ready for class each day: be in class with materials at your desk. This includes daily items such as pencils, notebook, textbook, and calculator. Each student will be asked to interact daily in class. This includes interacting with the instructor as well as his/her classmates. Lack of interaction, including sleeping will not be tolerated.

  1. Cheating

Cheating of any form will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, coping classwork/homework, getting answers to a test/quiz from anyone, and talking during a test/quiz. All cheating will result in an automatic zero for the assignment.

  1. Classwork Policy

Each student is expected to have classwork finished and turned in by the end of class to the correct tray. Classwork will be returned within the week it is assigned to answer any questions. Work with no name or written in pen will not be graded …thrown out

  1. Final Exam

The final exam will be a cumulative test of the student’s knowledge of the entire semester. Each student is required to take the EOC (state test); however, a student may be exempt from my final if the student has no more than two excused absences/tardies.

Calculator(provided)

Textbook(provided)

Three ring binder w/ pockets

ALL items are to left in class.

  1. Calculator Usage

Volunteer has a limited number of graphing calculators. Those calculators are intended for use during the class period and are NOT to be taken home. If you already own a graphing calculator, you may use yours-but it is your responsibility.

  1. Housekeeping Notes
  2. Cell phones are generally not permitted during class; please keep them to an absolute minimum unless permission is given(checking text is NOT keeping it to a minimum)
  3. Work done in pen will not be graded (notes are fine).
  4. Work with no name will not be graded (recycled).
  5. Spilled drink, wrappers/trash on floor will result in lost privileges.
