VOLUNTEER COORDINATORII

Reports to: Manager of Volunteer Programs
  1. JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager of Volunteer Programs, the Volunteer Coordinator provides training and direct supervision of volunteers assigned to various tasks, and provides support to the Manager of Volunteer Programs. The Volunteer Coordinator provides support to multiple departments by assigning volunteers to needed tasks.The Volunteer Coordinator represents Food Gatherers to all stakeholders in accordance with the established guidelines and values.

  1. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assists with evaluating, triaging, and prioritizing work, determining the daily assignments, and assigning individual jobs to volunteers
  • Orders and stocks appropriate supplies, including labels
  • Matches volunteer work with output needs in alignment with agency profiles.
  • Assists with visual management and other training tools
  • Provides general safety training and job-specific training to volunteers
  • Maintains clean, safe and organized warehouse and work areas
  • Provides backup support to the Manager of Volunteer Programs, primarily in the areas of volunteer recruitment, training and communications.
  • Provides backup in other areas of operations as needed
  • Represents Food Gatherers at meetings or on committees as needed
  • Collects and files Volunteer Program documentation as needed, such as volunteer forms, sign-in sheets, etc.
  • Complies with the organization’s policies and procedures, work rules; safety requirements; quality standards; industry standards; and applicable local, State, and Federal laws.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as needed and assigned.
  1. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervises volunteers at the warehouse and at Food Gatherers Community Kitchen
  • Assists with supervising interns for the Internal Operations and Warehouse Departments

IV. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education / Training – Minimum Required
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Preferred: One year of education beyond high school
  • Experience
  • One year of work experience required
  • Licenses / Certifications:
  • ServSafe Food Safety Manager’s Certification (within 6 months of hire)
  • ServSafe Allergen Certification (within 6 months of hire)
  • First Aid/CPR Certification (within 6 months of hire)

  • Represents Food Gatherers in a professional manner under a variety of conditions.
  • Monitors communication (email, voicemail) during assigned hours and responds within an appropriate timeframe (high priority within 24 hours)
  • Knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel
  • Food safety and warehouse safety practices

  • Applies standard practices in following established procedures and making some decisions.
  • Physical Demands
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, repetitively lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Working Conditions
  • Works in warehouse, community kitchen, environments with others
  • Equipment (Machines, tools, devices used in performing only the essential functions)
  • Office - MS Word, MS Excel, Google Apps, copiers, printers, personal computers
  • Warehouse– pallet jacks (power and manual), cardboard baler, hand trucks, carts
  • Community Kitchen – ovens, steamers, dishwashers, refrigeration equipment, service equipment, knives
