Shooters: The Annual Dept. of PA MCL Pistol Match will be held at Ft. Indian Town Gap on 4-5 June 2016 and the Rifle Match is at Reade Range on 10 September 2016. For questions and registration information, please call/text Carmen Muti at 412–585–2175.
Department of Pennsylvania Marine Corps League
Annual Service Rifle Match 2016
This Match has traditionally been fired on one of two ranges. The privately owned Reade Range near Altoona allows use of any U.S. issued Service Rifle in “as issued” external appearance, per NRA Rules for “Service Rifle” competition.
The Military Base at Fort Indiantown Gap allows us use of their range and barracks, but specifies use of the M16/AR15 exclusively.
This year’s Match will be held at Reade Range on Friday September 9, Saturday, 10, and Sunday September 11. Friday is a “Setup/Service Day”, most, if not all shooting is done on Saturday with Sunday reserved for extra relays, if needed and Cleanup. Check-in is at 0600 on the 200 Yard Line on Saturday. Registration is $30.
This match was initially organized and run by our own Ernie Simmons of the Bantam Marine Detachment from Butler over 30 years ago. It has become a National Annual event for the Marine Corps. League. This year’s Match is dedicated to Ernest J. Simmons who passed 5 June 2015. In addition to serving the Detachment as our Rifle and Pistol Chairman, Ernie served as both the PA State and National Rifle Chairman. Hopefully you have a little better idea of what to expect at the Dept of PA MCL Rifle Match.
