Agenda and Minutes:

Patty distributed the Agenda for the meeting and Jeanie distributed minutes from the last meeting.

Old Business:

Secretary duties discussed. It was decided that the secretarial duties will be any and all communications within the organization/school/community. Jeanie will fill in when Christy is absent or until Football season is over.

Name of the Parent Organization: Students came up with the name TJ-Parents of Performing Singers (TJ-Pops). Brandy texted the name to everyone yesterday. There was discussion about the name and though the majority of the group supports the name the students came up with, there were some at the meeting having strong opinions against the name. There was some discussion about it getting confused with TJ-Bop at the bank, though most banks go by account number not name so, that would not really be an issue. In addition, we will not be banking at the same bank as TJ BOP. There was discussion about using VIP in some way but could not really come up with any solid ideas on how to represent all three letters. We tabled the name to our next meeting. A decision will need to be made by then as the bank account will need to be opened this month.

Meetings will still be held on the first and third Monday of the month.

Young American’s group is still looking for host families. Please contact Cyndi Hume 402-250-7067 if you can help. Tammy is going to make a spaghetti dinner for the YA’s one of the nights and we discussed getting Old River Pizza one of the days since Old River is willing to sell them for 7.99 per pizza.

Brandy updated the group on the status of the mirror project. She has been in touch with Rich Bryen (Owen’s dad) to come up with a plan to add more mirrors. Brandy has already put $60 of her own money toward the project and Patty Kousgaard added another $20. We are hoping that we get some sort of donation from each student’s family.

Fundraising: The sucker idea was presented again. Some groups have bought the suckers in bulk at Sam’s. We also talked about selling something at the games. Jeanie suggested selling those glow bracelets, necklaces and sticks at the games. We could get them in school colors. Brandy is going to check and see if we can get any from Oriental Trading before the game. (Brandy was not able to get them before the game as they have to be ordered from O.T., you can’t just go to their Omaha location and get items.)

New Business:

Discussion regarding a homecoming float or some way to represent TJ Vocal Music. We will have to make a decision on this by the next meeting. Homecoming is the 20th and that does not leave much time to put a float together.
