Torfwerk Kemper & Röttges, Georgsdorf
Both operations at Georgsdorf-Ostende and near the Nord-Süd Kanal have both completely disappeared. Where the K&R 1000mm line crossed the site of the Veldkamp 600mm line to the east of the Kanal, there is now a 900mm line crossing, but it does not seem to be much used at present. This new 900mm line may be part of the Griendtsveen system.
Torfwerk Gebr.Brill, Georgsdorf
The works has been extended again, and the Spoorijzer loco is preserved, with a wagon, outside the new office building. The former loco shed is now no longer rail connected.

The works of Emsland Düngetorf was closed and the original 900mm gauge rail system was lifted. However on the north side of the site another 900mm line was laid more recently, but this now also closed. A home-made loco and some wagons are still stored on the remaining section of the track. This loco was built from an old farm tractor and has double-flanged wheels. A near-by sign points to Torfwerk Bouwhuis, and these could be the owners of this loco.

This line is the east side of the Nord-Süd Kanal, near the main Brill works.

This 900mm system is just to the south of the Brill line mentioned above, and is quite modern. All the locos were locked away in the shed.

This new torfbahn has been opened to the west of the kanal road, north of the Griendtsveen works in Schöninghsdorf. The tipping point has an operator’s cabin which was built from the cab of a Schöma loco, Klasmann No.14/6463.

This museum line is on the site of Griendtsveen Torfstreu, Torfwerk Erica. The works was closed in 1983 and was transferred to the NMS in 1984. The old works and much of the track is still intact.

This works was started c1910 by Kronprinz AG and was taken over in recent years by Mannesmann. The loco is very little used now and might be sold in a few months. The manager here came from the Mannesmann works in Witten, and said that as well as this loco, that works also used to have a Henschel, which was sold. He said that there are no longer any locos at the Witten works.

Westdeutsche Portland-Zement- und Kalkwerk Gebr.Gröne GmbH & Co.KG., Geseke
This works no longer uses it's cement kiln, but buys raw cement 'clinker' from other cement firms is Geseke and then mills it into cement. This milling mostly takes place at night, to use cheap 'off-peak' electricity. The old loco is really just a box on wheels, with a very large buffer beam at only one end. The manager said it is still 'in reserve', but it has not been used for some time. The other loco is rather more normal in appearance, and is still used on most days. There was once also a 600mm gauge system in the chalk pit, with 2 Henschel steam locos in the last years of operation.
