Visit Paris via your laptop !

But be careful, cities can be dangerous - so take your parents or me along as you "travel"!

Go to Google Maps

Enter Paris, France in the Search Maps box

You'll see this ...

you may not see that Address:

bubble

Click the "Satellite" tab (if you see street labels, uncheck the “show labels” box) and close the "Address" box and you'll see this - yes, that's Paris in the middle with the red A pointer. See how the Seine River snakes through it?

You can go as close as you'd like, and even see the names of streets by clicking the "Show labels" box (run your cursor over the "Satellite" tab and it'll appear)

Click on one of the photos on the left, or click "Explore this area" and lots of photos will appear like magic all over the map!

You can zoom in or out, and even grab the map to center a specific area (watch for the "grabbing hand")

I zoomed and dragged to the west, finding a landmark you should recognize from our class discussion. See it? So cool!

Then I clicked & dragged that little yellow person to go to the "street view"

and voilà there I was, in the street, right in the middle of the Place de l'Étoile - in Paris, France! and didn't have to dodge cars, busses, or motorbikes! The labels were there because I hadn't removed them.

You can do a 360º look around from anywhere

I clicked “Explore this area” and watched a video midnight motorcycle ride to the Place de l'Étoile! Be careful with whom you “travel” – always ask your parents to go with you!

Like I would really do this in "real life"!

Now it's your turn!

Explore Paris yourself - but as you do, have me or your parent there in case you come across something not appropriate for TMS. If we're with you, we can explain what happened and you won't get your laptop taken away!
