GOD’S

VISION FOR HAITI

“SPIRITUAL REVOLUTION

Two biblical models (Based on Nehemiah & I Samuel 7)

Isaiah 60:1-3

“Arise shine for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.

For behold the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people, But

The Lord will arise over you. The Gentiles shall come to your light and kings to

The brightness of your rising”

THE PROPHETIC MODEL

(securing the land)

Samuel the prophet represents many of the principles of rebuilding a nation. Especially providingDivine protection around a nation. These are Kingdom of God principles. We find these in I Samuel 7.

Before God moved on behalf of Israel Samuel Called a national fast. Haiti must first call

for a national day of prayer and fasting

1 Samuel 7:5-6

"Assemble all Israel at Mizpah and I will intercede with the LORD for you. When they

had assembled at Mizpah, they drew water and poured it out before the LORD. On that

day they fasted and there they confessed, ‘We have sinned against the LORD.’”

Releasing the Kingdom of God to the nation

I Samuel 7:13-14 (Under Samuel the prophet Israel experienced one of the greatest periods of blessing.

1. Divine Protection - “The hand of the Lord was against the Philistines…”

2. Divine Restoration - “The restored all the cities they had taken”

3. Divine Justice- “Samuel Judged in every city”

4. Divine Worship- “Samuel built an altar unto the Lord at….”

THE NEHEMIAH MODEL

(restoring the land)

Two basic elements: God commanded Nehemiah to rebuild these two things:

Rebuild the walls – Walls represent definition and defense

Ancient cities were defined by their walls. A strong national identity is important.

The walls of the city were also the defense. Defense is against the enemies without.

Rebuild the gates – Gates represent council and control

The gates were the place where the elders of the city judged the people. It

Represent righteous judgment.

Keys to rebuilding and restoring Jerusalem

God Asked Nehemiah to first assess the condition of Israel.

Neh 1:3

"Those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire." Many Haitians in America feel this way about their country back home.

Assess two things – Condition of the city

The Walls and gates were broken down.

Condition of the people

The People were in sin, they became enslaved

Neh 1:7 “We have acted very wickedly toward you.

We have not obeyed the commands, decrees and laws you

gave your servant Moses.”

Neh 1:10 "They are your servants and your people,

whom you redeemed by your great strength and your mighty hand.”

Nehemiah:

A Plan - Had a set time to build “And I set him a time”

Authority - Had authority to build – “let letters be given me from the governors…”

Resources - Was given materials to build - “Timber to make beams for the gates”

Favor - Had Divine favor to build - “Good hand of God was upon me”

Leadership of the nation must have a clear plan

1. Set time

2. Specific plan

3. People must believe it can be done

Neh 2:17-18

“…let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace. I also told them about the gracious hand of my God upon me and what the king had said to me.”

4. Must have the favor of God on it (Prayer)

7 Gates to rebuild. (Kingdom of God affects every part of society)

Gate of prayer, unity and worship – Building spiritual vitality

Gate of truth and justice – Justice is foundation of strength

Gate of arts and entertainment – National pastimes reflect society

Gate of science and education – National celebrations must honor God

Gate of care and compassion – widow and orphan

Gate of health and healing – Must have access to health care

Gate of commerce and industry – Truth results in security which results in

prosperity

grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength."
