Big Idea/Unit Overview
To evaluate personal levels of fitness using the state mandated assessment tool (Fitness Gram) / Concepts and Key Understandings
Students will be able to evaluate personal levels of exertion while exercising using various exercises such as running, pushups, curl ups, flexibility, weight and height measurements.
Evidence of Student Learning
Formative Assessment(s)
·  Pacer test, curl ups, pushups, shoulder stretch, trunk lifts, weight and height, BMI conversion
·  Students are assessed by participation of the activity.
·  State mandated documentation is completed and reported on computer software for the State of Texas. / Summative Assessment (Correlation between summative assessment and performance indicators/student expectations)
Grading: Students are graded by participating in the activity and having their materials required for physical education.
Academic Vocabulary (New - Direct Teach)
·  Pacer test, curl ups, pushups, shoulder stretch, trunk lifts, BMI conversion, pounds, feet & inches, weight and height. / Vocabulary Review
·  Words will be reviewed while the activity is taking place.
Guiding Questions (2-3 overarching questions that students should be able to answer by the end of the unit)
·  How many pacers will they need to complete to pass?
·  How many pushups, curl ups do we have to do to pass?
·  What does a shoulder stretch look like?
·  How high do I have to lift my trunk to pass?

State mandated testing is completed on every student. This state testing is required and non-negotiable.
